I'm an American traveling to Japan and I've been missing my cats and I just had to drop by!
This place is amazing, a bit more homely but definitely a loving place for cats. I appreciate this type of place more especially because this cat lounge does rescue, adoption events, fostering, etc. and the human staff tries to help make Nagoya totally euthanasia free, and is not like the other boutique cat cafes that only try to have exotic cats.
I have to say I don't agree with the "unfriendly staff" claims in other reviews: I was greeted warmly even though I don't speak Japanese, and the prices were very clear to me as were the instructions (take off your shoes, wear sandals, wash your hands). I've been in rescue for a long time myself, and my guess is that honestly if the staff were strict toward you, you probably weren't exhibiting cat friendly behavior. 😅 It might help to approach the lounge with a quiet patience and delicateness! You also have to understand the staff may be more strict because they helped these cats from a difficult, maybe even traumatic past. This cat lounge is not like the fancy cat cafes where the cats there are made to serve you, this is a home to house rescued cats where the fees go toward operational costs and likely rescue costs.
Please come and support this place!! The cats...
Read moreThe cats at this café were absolutely fantastic and adorable and clearly the highlight of the place. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the staff. From the moment we walked in, the man working there was aggressive and rude, shouting at us without cause. He provided misleading information about the fees, which did not match what was stated on their official website, and failed to mention anything about the drinks, we only realized they were included by observing Japanese customers. What’s even more disturbing is that his hostility doesn’t seem to be an isolated case; other reviews suggest a consistent pattern of discrimination toward foreigners. Throughout our visit, he continued to harass us, making the entire experience incredibly uncomfortable. It's truly disheartening that someone so unkind and impatient is responsible for a space centered around care and gentleness. The cats deserve better, and so do the visitors. Please adopt all the cats fast, so that there's no reason for the cafe to...
Read moreThe cats were great but the staff were very rude and shouted at us. The staff didn't speak English so we didn't know what to do. We almost left the place straight on arrival.
As soon as we arrived, the staff started yelling at us for not taking our shoes off, then for putting them on the wrong shelf, then for taking dirty slippers. Also, the staff didn't believe our friend had washed her hands and had to use disinfectant.
We were only offered a 60-minute admission, even though it was only 7pm and a 30-minute admission should have been available. Then we were let out to the cats. There are lockers in the cat room where you can put your things away, and there are free drink machines in a separate room. The space was large enough and there were many cats. The cats were curious and playful. Unfortunately, they were not used to human interaction and were shy. In fact, I'm not surprised if the staff treated them the same...
