Kani Honke Nagoya Kanayama Branch — Restaurant in Nagoya

I’m not usually one for splashing out on a posh place, I tend to go for quantity rather than quality, but this place is an ideal choice for a special occasion. It’s run like a ryokan, with a lot of hospitality, very polite staff and over-the-top service. Your private dining room has a view outside (so the higher the better), and you might even have a view of a balcony garden as well. Rooms are washitsu-like, and really sell the atmosphere. Food is of course superb, provided you like fish. The kanimiso tofu was a particular favourite, and the various types of crab come as sashimi, fried, and boiled. Depending what set you get, you might also find yourself with a hot pot, tempura and other treats. Sets start around 8000, so it’s not cheap, but I do recommend pushing the boat out for the better, 12000 course. Beers and other drinks are separate. I’m not entirely sure if Kani Honke is the best chain of restaurants serving crab in Japan, as some influencers might suggest, but it certainly offers an impressive visual and gustatory experience. This is where you touch upon Japanese excellence. The restaurant itself is stunning, with an entrance that harks back to Japan’s medieval past. As for the service, if you’re ready to splurge on savouring delicious dishes, you’ll have a dedicated waiter.

We opted for the ‘Takasago Kaiseki’ menu, which costs 24,000 yen (taxes included) for two people. It’s a high-end menu that offers a variety of crab dishes. The dinner lasted 2 hours, and each new dish was a fresh presentation. Although the dishes are small, we ended up feeling full.

久しぶりに訪れた金山店さん。

巨大なビル全体がかに本家さん。 店舗隣接で立体駐車場があるのが助かります。

現在、上階にあるカラオケルームはコロナ対策で閉鎖中です。カニを楽しんだ後に館内で２次会まで楽しめると言う趣向を凝らした造りになっています。

お客様との訳ありの会食にご招待頂きました。どうしてもこの機を逃せないということで、最大限のディスタンスが取られておりました。

ワンフロアー貸切で他のお客様と一切顔を合わせることもなく、最短時間で終えるようにしてくださっておりました。

立体駐車場に車を預け、店内に入ります。 検温と消毒を済ませ、エレベーターで６階まで上がります。

お店側のお気遣いを頂き、大きなお部屋でソーシャルディスタンスもバッチリです。 外には小さな庭園と街を眺めながらの会食です。

カニはもちろんのこと、トロ（まぐろ）もとても美味しく、太巻、かに汁、とても美味しかったです。

かにの定番のお店ですが、大型店舗になればなるほど今の状況では経営が苦しいと聞きます。 是非是非頑張って頂きたいと思います。
