We have felt very welcomed here in Japan as foreigners, but eating at this restaurant made us feel part of Japan. Almost like family. It seems like a family owned and run restaurant. We were all talking to each other (patrons and staff) and it was the best dining experience we've had on our long trip to Japan.
They had us put a marker on their map showing where everyone who had eaten there had come from. They had my son put the marker on which was very sweet.
The experience was easily a 5/5. The food was also a 5/5 and was very affordable.
Please go here to eat while in Nikko!!! This is cash only. We got three dinners, beer, and sake for ~12k yen. The closest ATM that worked for me (the closest bank one did not work for me) is the Tobu-Nikko station, about an 8 minute round-trip walk from the restaurant. When you walk in, go to the left, and then to the right of the little convenience store...
Read moreWhat a great find! Just a minute from the JR Nikko station, and you could be eating the freshest sushi to be had in Nikko. I loved the fresh oysters, and the ikura and uni on the special plate. I generally avoid "nama" ebi, but the fresh shrimp on this plate is exceptional.
Since the unassuming restaurant is a very short walk from the JR Nikko station, I don't understand why it's not packed with people who enjoy sushi. I live here, and this is my new favorite. Please stop by.
I ate and drank a lot. I had 3 fresh oysters (the sushi Master even apologize that one of them was "so big.") And two cold sake. I also ordered a miso soup, and something else. So my cost was way above the standard lunch price. But, for me, it was well worth the price. If you like sushi, the price for a standard Sushi plate is...
Read moreA very homely and cosy environment! This place is run by an elderly couple who were very hospitable. Helping us with our jackets and immediately providing us with water. For context, I stayed inthe Nikko station hotel right behind this place and was looking for an authentic yet nearby restaurant for dinner and chanced upon this place. Although the food variety isn't too extensive, the food is very authentic. The seafood I had was all very fresh and watching the chef prepare it in front of us was like a spectacle. Overall, if I were to return to Nikko, I'd definitely come...
