GARUPAN Cafe PANZER VOR — Restaurant in Oarai

Japan is famed for its themed cafés. Being in Oarai, of course you'd expect a Girls Und Panzer café! The café is 50m up in the Oarai Marine Tower, and serves food which are loosely themed.

You're not going to get tank-shaped Katsu like in Cook Fan, but the foods are somehow linked to the different schools. Like a Saunders burger, or Anzio pasta. The teas are of course all based on St Gloriana, as you'd expect.

You can see lots of Girls Und Panzer artwork and merchandise around the café. I'm not sure if the merchandise around is for sale though, or just for show. There are some merchandise for sale near the till, but you also have the Garupan Gallery if you're really gunning for a Girls Und Panzer shopping trip.

Certainly a bit of fun and would definitely recommend for any Girls Und Panzer fan, but if you're not into that series, then there are other places you can...

I was genuinely disappointed by how impolite the staff was. I assume they were workers from abroad, but so are most 7-11 workers, which are always polite... For a fan of the show it felt kinda shit. First time this has happened to me in Japan.

大洗マリンタワー内にある喫茶店です。旅先でタワーを観光した際に、丁度ティータイムだった事もあり訪れました。展望台とエレベーターは同じで、ここの喫茶店までは無料で行ける様です。展望台に登るエレベーター内のボタンに「ガルパン喫茶」とあり、良く分からずに訪れましたがガルパンというのはどうやらアニメの名前らしく、エレベーターを降りた瞬間に理解できました。一瞬入店を躊躇いましたが、展望タワーに普段登らない事と、他に喫茶店の当ても無いので入店。外国の方が1人で接客等を行っている様ですが、丁寧で日本語でも問題ありませんでした。土曜日のティータイムに訪れましたが店内は7割程埋まっており、人気の高さが窺えました。店内のあちこちにアニメのグッズが置いてあり、店内の装飾も凝っていてファンの方にはたまらないのかも知れません。メニューにもキャラクターの絵が描いてあり、それぞれのキャラクターに合ったメニューとなっている様で、何種類もあり思ったより本格的です。この様なコンセプトの店では味は二の次かと思いきや、味は思ったよりも良く、値段はものにより少々高めではありますが、大洗の景色が見える席代と思えば妥当なのかも知れません。また、メニューによってはキャラクターのコースターや缶バッジが貰えましたが個人的には持て余す状態で、ノベルティが不要な人は若干値段を安くして貰えると嬉しいと思いました。アニメのファンならば全然ありなのだと思いますが、一般の人は若干困ると感じました。ファンの方で折角大洗まで来たなら訪...
