We found OkCurry because of all the positive reviews. We were craving some Japanese curry. We’re so glad we came here! One of our best meals in Japan!!
The interior design is absolutely stunning! Everything is so well designed. You feel like a local but also as if it is a special experience. It is laid back and casual cool. Perfect for a date night. Also really great value for the price as the portions are HUGE! Very generous. We were so used to small Japanese portions but you get so much food here. And you can also get rice for free or very cheap.
We ordered the two choice curry plate. The Japanese curry is delicious. Perfect amount of spicy and the vegetables used were very fresh. The dish is sooo colorful. I also recommend the chicken in hot oil as a side!
The owner and his family is so welcoming and hospitable. We loved the experience. If you’re looking for some amazing Japanese curry in a great ambiance then check them out. You won’t regret it!! If we’re ever in Okayama...
Read moreSo happy my friend saw this place and said "Tacos." The Chef greeted me in English and I was thrilled to see Birria Tacos on the menu. The spicy chicken taco was so juicy and not too spicy! I enjoyed it completely. The Chef, Taro, said that the sauce had a curry base, but it wasn't overpowering. The waiter was attentive and always kept my water glass full. He didn't speak English but used a translation app to let me know my second taco, the beef one, would be out shortly. It was just as juicy but I have to say I preferred the chicken. Great ambiance, friendly staff and fantastic food. If you are hungry, make sure to get the keema curry set. I couldn't recommend it to people who have a bad reaction to cilantro/ coriander/ パクチー. Not a budget lunch, but one I was happy to pay for considering I don't get downtown...
Read moreAfter 2 weeks of travel in Japan we felt we needed some spice! I read the reviews of OkCurrry and we called on to make sure they were open in the evening.
Whilst it was quiet in the evening, need to take the tram if you are staying near the central station but its worth the trek for numerous reasons.
Food - limited menu but wonderful!, ambience and service were wonderful. Very friendly owner/chef who clearly cares about his craft.
We both chose the mixed plate, chicken curry, minced meat, rice and some kick with spice and topped with local corriander. We both devoured our dishes, very tasty and all of very good quality. We've had some great meals in Japan and some very poor meals so we decided to plan restaurants better. OkCurry is a great choice, give it a try, we were very glad we did.
5 stars...
