We enjoyed two nights at the LOG. It is set on a hill overlooking trees, the city, and the water, so the views are lovely. The staff were attentive and very eager to please. ||We are active and fit, however it is nonetheless a bit annoying to have to climb 100steps every time one returns to the hotel, so this is an obvious detraction. The other disappointment for us was that there is no spa. We had just finished three days of cycling and were looking forward to relaxing in a Japanese spa/hot tub (which we have quickly grown fond of), only to find we had to make do with the bath tub in our bedroom. ||The building is minimalist and made of concrete, even most of the seating - stylish but not particularly comfortable. It has a youthful, zen vibe. The clientele, when we were there, was much younger than the two of us and apart from us, it was exclusively Japanese. There were lots of Instagram moments being recorded. ||Our room was Japanese style, a very comfortable low mattress with rice paper floor covering and rice paper screens we could open . We had a cute patio with great views but uncomfortable tiny stools to sit on. ||We enjoyed the creative, European-inspired breakfast and the set menu for dinner. Everything was tasty and interesting. The wine and beer list is limited and fairly expensive.||The location of the hotel is convenient (apart...
Read moreStaying at LOG was such a serene experience. From the soothing music playing in the public spaces to the calm colors, ambient lighting, and thoughtful design, every detail complemented the tranquility of the stay.
The room was outstanding. The soft light filtering in through the windows gently illuminated the washi paper that covers the floors, walls, and ceilings. Amenities are plentiful, but hidden in drawers, closets, and cabinets so as not to disturb the minimalist design. I’ll admit I thought the room looked spartan when I first saw photos, but it’s just because pictures don’t do justice to the beautiful details of the space.
The service was great as well. From check-in to dinner and breakfast, everything was smooth and relaxed. Don’t forget to spend some time browsing the gift shop at the reception, where you can purchase lovely items like teas, ceramics, and amenities from the hotel to take home (like the super comfortable leather slippers provided in the rooms).
Onomichi is such a charming town, and staying at LOG really enhanced our experience there. We would...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed at Log this April for two nights, and it met and exceeded even our highest expectations. We were enchanted by photos we had seen of the rooms and the exceptional design by architect Bijoy Jain. In person, the hotel and the rooms are even more stunning, as you enjoy the changing light on the beautiful colors, coming through paper and silk screens. Morning breakfast was a multi-course heaven every day, and the hotel staff kindly accommodated me as a vegetarian. Our hotel room was pristine and the most comfortable and exquisite room we've ever stayed in. Beautiful bedding, and romantic sliding screens giving way to antechambers, a luxurious bath, and beautiful views into the harbor. The Log staff is exceptionally kind and gentle and professional, greeting you with a cold tea and taking wonderful care of your needs. If you stay here, try to work in a half day trip to Kohtei at the Shinshoji Zen Museum, which was just a staggering sight in person, and that whole complex (cafes, bath house, etc) makes for a wonderful half day or...
