Sakae — Restaurant in Osaka

This is a really great restaurant. You come in and take your shoes off and sit at the table. The staff are very nice, especially to foreigners. The food is actually really great. They only do cash and require you to buy a drink. The plum wine is sweet and pairs well with the food. My top recommendations are the wagyu beef (hints of lemon flavor), the fried chicken sweet and sour green onion sauce, it is not crunchy but the chicken was cooked very well. The recommended sushi rolls were very refreshing and light. It was a large portion. We got the crispy baked cheese, which was ok. It was made well, just was crispy cheese flavor. The ham and prosciutto salad was good as well, probably wouldn’t get again but it was a good meal. We also got the wagyu beef stake, which had less of a citrus flavor, which made it more enjoyable. I would not recommend their fried potato, which is just French fries. They were cooked well but probably needed salt. Overall, I would give the restaurant a solid 4.9/5, the staff were actually super attentive and kind, the food was really good and affordable. The most expensive thing we got was 1200 yen. Everything else ranged from 400-1000 yen. Overall, I recommend going here at the end of the night if you want to relax and enjoy some good food...

Sakae is an amazingly delicious, cozy, and welcoming little restaurant in Osaka near Osakako Station and the Tenpozan area!

You have to try their delicious wagyu nigiri, and the variety sashimi as they always have the freshest fish even late at night! Also, their nigiri set is great value!

Nori and Nobu are the warmest and kindest people you could meet in Osaka! My fiancé and I went here twice, first to celebrate our engagement the first night we landed in Osaka and second on my birthday this Sept 22. They both closed shop around 30mins earlier on my birthday and gave us free sake, mini cake, and offered to play whatever song I chose on the speakers and we all just had a great time together!!

This was our favorite restaurant/izakaya during our 8 day stay in Osaka without a doubt!

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at this incredible restaurant in Osaka, and it was by far the best experience I had in Japan! The food was nothing short of outstanding – high-quality, flavorful, and beautifully presented at an incredibly reasonable price.
