I walked by this cafe by pure chance, and I'm so glad I did! I'm usually not much of a coffee drinker, but I had some time I needed to to burn and the place looked cute so I thought I might as well and went in.
Honestly I was a little broke at this point in my trip so I asked for drip coffee thinking surely it must be cheaper than the lattes and whatnot. Turns out that wasn't exactly the case - lattes were around 600 yen or so, while their wide selection of speciality drip coffees were generally over 1000 yen.
At this point I'm thinking, "Oh no, this is fancy coffee, I really don't know enough about coffee to be doing this" but I didn't have the guts to be like, "never mind, can I get something cheaper?" after having asked for their speciality coffee menu - so I just fessed up that I had no idea what I was doing and asked for recommendations. They were super nice about it and helped me pick a coffee they thought would be more approachable to someone like me. (I speak Japanese, but the person helping me was completely fluent in English too!)
So I was sitting at my seat waiting for my drink and thinking "Wow I just spent 1700 yen on coffee, I sure hope it's the best coffee of my life"
And it was!! I kid you not, this cup of coffee changed my opinion on coffee entirely. Before this, I was someone who was trying to enjoy coffee but could only do so after adding copious amounts of sugar and cream (I know, I'm a baby). But this one! It was fruity and flavourful and complex, and I didn't feel the need to add anything else because it almost felt wrong to change the flavor. Usually when I'm given tasting notes for wine or whiskey or whatever I'm like "Mhmm yes yes I can taste the fig and the stone fruits and the peat... I think?? Sort of?" but for this one I could actually taste exactly what was written on the little card they gave me, which was pretty wild. (I later found out they won some sort of prestigious international coffee award, which checked out)
I think this was the first time in my life that I enjoyed all the flavors in a cup of coffee! It absolutely blew my mind. I wanted to tell the guy who recommended me the coffee how much I enjoyed it, but unfortunately he was on break when I left the store. I hope he sees this because thanks to him, after I went back home I almost immediately obtained a coffee grinder and a some coffee beans hoping to recreate even a little bit...

Absolutely loved this hidden gem in Osaka!
SOT COFFEE offers amazing specialty coffee in a clean, modern, Nordic-inspired space. We tried the pour-over and coconut iced latte — both were excellent. The pour-over was light and fruity, with a smooth finish. The iced latte came with a chocolate-rimmed glass that added a fun and delicious touch!
Their Basque cheesecake was also a highlight — rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced.
The service was warm and attentive, and every detail from the tray setup to the small Biscoff biscuit felt thoughtful.
Located just a short walk from Namba, it’s a peaceful spot to take a break from the city buzz. Highly recommend for coffee lovers visiting Osaka!
