We stumbled upon this Mexican restaurant out of necessity more than anything else. We were heading back to our Hotel after trying to find the restaurant of our choice for that evening, but it wasn't at the address given. So getting close to our Hotel we decided to look into this Mexican restaurant just around the corner for something to eat for my pregnant girlfriend and to rest a little before heading to bed.
What we found wasn't just a great restaurant, serving great food and drinks, but lots of new friends. From the lively one man show of a chef, both servicing his costumers and handling all the preparation of the foods and orders, all with a smile and a care to details. To the local regulars from friends and partners to the old shodo master that just came for his shots of tequila before going home, we returned there twice more in our short period of time in Osaka, and we were glad we did. Communication was broken English and lots of dictionary and google translate, but everyone was so focused on having a great time together that it was just a blast.
So if you are looking for some food that is better than the price, and a happy place to be, then find a seat at the bar and meet lots of new friends...
Read moreNo photos as I was too busy eating this amazing food. The best Mexican food we've ever had, and that includes our visits to Mexico.
When we sat down I asked if their tortilla was made with cornflour, and the wait staff responded unprompted that they use cornflour, and everything in the restaurant is gluten free except for one dish. Can't remember what the one dish was, but it won't be a problem as you'll be ordering the tacos anyway.
The friendliest, most welcoming atmosphere. The chef was so happy, clearly passionate about his restaurant, and the food was prepared right in front of us as we sat at the bar. We learned that the chef used to work in a restaurant in Mexico. It was great to be able to chat to the staff! Really feel good vibes.
The wait staff spoke English, Spanish and Japanese.
Best food we've eaten in our stay in Japan. Please eat here you will be so...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Ōsaka as part of our honeymoon trip to Japan! We, of course, loved Japanese food, but we also wanted to try other restaurants since there are so many to choose from in Japan. La Fonda was without a doubt the BEST one we went to! The food is 100% authentic! We ordered micheladas, agua de horchata and agua de Jamaica to accompany our food, and they were amazing! We also had pozole, tostada de ceviche and guacamole as appetizers! The taste was incredible! We also ordered tacos: Chorizo, al pastor and carne picada They were wonderful!!! The place is very cozy and it looks just like a Mexican Fonda!! The owners were extremely nice! They tried to speak Spanish to us, as I’m from Spain and my wife is Mexican-American. This was the absolute best dining in Osaka! We fully...
