Blue star is a new funky cafe in Tsugaike, with the best coffee in town! The manager of the cafe Keiko, is a hostess with the mostest!!! from creating designer froth on your latte, bilingual speaking English (a massive bonus for us foreigners), provides service with a smile and a very contagious laugh, to going above and beyond to ensure all customers needs are catered for. She can also provide local knowledge and tips having lived in the district for 19years, making your experience even that bit better. Now to the food. Wow, wow, wow!!! The menu caters for gluten free and is sooo…. tasty, fresh and healthy. The chef is to be commended for achieving the flavours he does, keeping each ingredient on the plate unique yet fused with the other ingredients to make your mouth water with each bite. Tsugaike is so fortunate to have such a refreshing cafe with an alternative menu that caters for all and surpasses every expectation. Thank goodness for Keiko and her mastery of hospitality in every way - it makes your stay in Tsugaike one to remember and...
Read moreWe ate at the cafe and stayed at the adjoining hotel which had recently been renovated and opened, we were among the first to stay since it opened on 18th of Jan 2025. Bookings are available through booking.com
The staff at the hotel were fantastic and very helpful and also spoke English. The room was modern, spacious and located a 2 minute walk from the gondola and base of the Tsugaike slopes! When I come back I would gladly stay again!
As for the cafe, the food is delicious and their menu looks to accomodate a variety of dietary options. Again the staff were really nice and spoke English too. It had a very comforting interior and was a go to for coffee or drinks after a big day on the slopes.

The food here was unbelievably good but the service is what made it even better. We couldn’t believe our luck when we stumbled across this place which only opened last week. We ended up eating here 5 times and even bought take out for our travel day lunches! It was made even better by the kindest staff who were super friendly and helped me out with understanding the Japanese food labelling system and even gave some suggestions for other places to try while on the rest of our trip. Even if you don’t have an allergy this cafe is...
