Excellent property located right at the base of Tsugaike mountain (in my opinion the best resort in the Hakuba Valley). The staff were incredible, most spoke english or had enough english language skills to answer any questions. The people make the place and staff here were really exceptional. I stayed in a dorm room whihc are laid out well "capsule style" which gives you alot of privacy and seperation from the other guests in your room. The facilities were super clean, like scrubbed daily. Breakfast was great; coffee was SUPER strong. There is a small meeting room available if you need some privacy for work calls. The drying room stays hot all night long and gear was always super dry in the morning. There is also a kitchen were you can cook for yourself if you need to. Also laundry machines and dryers available. The bus stop from Nagano/Narita is almost at the front door of the hotel and the bus to get to the other resorts in the area is a 2 minute walk away from the front door. My only complaint was that the wifi was pretty weak, had trouble streaming video more than once but was capable of uploading youtube videos thought it did take a little longer. overall I HIGHLY recommend the UnPlan Hakuba. I didn't want to leave and would 100% stay again. You will not regret...
Read moreIt's a nice place to stay in. I am glad that I am the very first group of customer who stayed here (this place opened just for 1 month). I stayed here for about a week. Staffs was nice and warm, wide open place for chilling or working (i worked a bit during my stay) at the common area. I like the dorm that is setup in a private room with 4 beds separated with woods, which provide great privacy. There are lights, power supply at the bed. It is located right next to the gondola (around 100meters). The hostel is also right next to the bus stop (around 30 meters). Just too many good things about it. Moreover, I also had a view of the main car park in the hostel to let me estimate whether there is a log of people up there. Showers are great, hot and strong enough. Overall it's a super super wonderful place to stay in, highly recommended.
Read moreNeat and tidy hostel, quite well organised, with large communal kitchen downstairs. Shared sinks and unisex showers (with anteroom). Men's toilet and women's toilet separately on lvl 2 and 3. Breakfasts were reasonable for a hostel (remember, don't be expecting the swanky 5 star hotel here): sliced ham, edamame beans/corn/lettuce/tomato/broccoli ... soup which alternated from a milky soup and a brown ?onion or beef soup but was tasty ... bread, cereal, tea, coffee. I got the private bedroom which had a double bed on tatami floors and an area which could possibly be storage or made into two smaller flat bunk beds I suppose. No fridge in your room (as is usual in hostels). Other rooms are bunk bed dorms. 300m from gondola (just walk across carpark to ticket office). If you want tickets for local Tsugaike region only, you can purchase these at front desk - you get a discount here! Coin operated laundry (uses 100Y coins). I did not try the sauna or the wagyu hot pot restaurant. Staff spoke enough English to...
