Nestled within Hokkaido Shrine, I stumbled upon a quaint little snack and dessert shop. With its small size and cozy atmosphere, this hidden gem offered only two delectable treats—a unique ice cream and a pastry called Fukuremochi.
Let's start with the ice cream. I have to say, it was absolutely delicious and fragrant. The ice cream had a distinct milky flavor that was incredibly pleasing to the palate. What made it even more special was the shape of the ice cream. Unlike the typical soft-serve ice creams I had seen before, each layer of this ice cream was perfectly rounded, resembling something out of a cartoon. It was a delightful sight to behold and enhanced the overall experience.
Another noteworthy aspect was the ice cream cone itself. It was exceptionally tasty, unlike any ice cream cone I had ever tried. It could be that they made it in-house . On the other hand, the Fukuremochi had a texture similar to the ice cream cone. It was freshly cooked, hot, and incredibly flavorful.

Read moreSoftcream comes in cute shape but tastes generic. Creamy but not much milky flavor. I think it’s not worth the calories since there’re many better softcream elsewhere. Yaki fukuremochi is freshly baked and piping hot. Actually burned my finger when I received it from the shopkeeper 🥲 I suggest they should change the packaging into thicker paper. Tastes great though; crispy with chewy center and the red bean filling is not too sweet. They also sell souvenir snacks. There’s milk cookie from agricultural college, cute cake in squirrel shape, big cute cookie in leaf shape etc. Today it’s super crowded since it’s saturday and there’s also a festival, so the line is long and it’s difficult to find a seat and there’re kids screaming all the time so I couldn’t relax but have to hurry...
Read moreWonderful experience at this little cafe. Loved the setting. Great service.
We had the Freshly Baked Fukuremochi, an Ice Cream and Green Tea. Everything was perfect, the biscuit was delicious, warm and not too sweet. Excellent green tea, and the ice cream was one of the best we had in Hokkaido.
Just be wary of the birds if they are present and you wish to sit outside on the benches. They were doing a good job of trying to and succeeding to steal the treats!
Also Google Maps said the cafe closed at 4pm. We visited on a weekday at the end of March, and rushed to get there in time. Inside signs indicated that the last order for Fukuremochi was at 16:45, so I presume it...
