Here we go… Two locations in Sapporo. I went with the North 13, West 3; not the other locations although I’ve been to all. This location boasts a very comfortable atmosphere. You can come and stay for a while or eat on the go. They’ve got booths, sofas and counter seating. The lighting gives off easy vibes…and then you get to the menu.
It’s got it all and it is far beyond the basics of soup curry. I’ve been to Suage, Okushiba Shōten (that wasn’t good. At all…), but this one has it all. Flavor. Size. Price. Atmosphere and? STAFF!!! The manager is incredibly kind and always comes out for a chat. The owner is a musician and phenomenal. Picante has opened up a few new locations around Japan. They ARE foreigner friendly, contrary to other reviews, but due to the tables being connected to the floors they will have to split up larger groups. There are two choices of flavors of soup: 35 OKUNEN NO KAZE is the more flavorful of the two. They have an array of toppings. Their roast chicken leg usually sells out quickly, but there are a lot of options. My favorite is the YASSAI NO SUSUME (Vegetable Recommendation). I top it off with some cheese on top my rice with deep fried Camembert on the side. Wow. They’ve never faulted in service, quality, speed, cleanliness or taste in the years I’ve been going. Definitely an awesome treat! If you’re a snow rat? This will warm you right up. Mmmm, and hit...

The soup curries are very tasty and satisfying, it's a Japanese fusion stew. Choose the soup, (different varieties available, from a medicinal herbal flavour to a more standard stew like flavour), choose the meat, and the degree of 'heat' you want. Down it with a nice bowl of Japanese rice, with or without cheese 😄
Quite a unique flavour experience, I would rate soup curry as quite high on the list of food to try in Sapporo. I enjoyed my meal there. They have english menus for non Japanese speakers.
The toilet is an amusing Austin Powers...
Read moreSapporo Soup Curry is a must if you’re in the area. I can see how this would be a huge treat in fall or winter seasons, but the flavor is so special!
Service received 4 stars as we waited about 30 minutes to receive our food after we ordered. Got seated right away. Please bring yen as they are cash only!
I ordered the light soup broth with fried chicken. The fried chicken was super soft and fell right off the bone! Level 3 was fine in spice.
A recommendation: add the extra chickpeas if you didn’t order the light soup broth (it comes within the order if you order light). How they roasted the chickpeas were so flavorful. This dish was...
