Warung Jawa حلال — Restaurant in Sapporo

Me and my boss decided to have lunch here on a friday. We called first just to make sure the shop is open. There's no parking available so we parked in a paid parking lot near by. The restaurant is in the basement and can be little hard to notice from outside of the building as there wasn't any signs outside of the building. The place is not huge but have space around 10 people at a time. It wasn't really crowded when we visited. We ordered the Nasi Gurang and Nasi Campur. The owner told that Nasi Campur will take time. We requested our food to be spicier than normal. The service is little slow as we received the Nasi Gurang after 30 minutes and Nasi Campur after 45 minutes. The owner is the only staff working and she seems to be cooking everything from beginning each time. The food was good and tasted authentic. But the portion size is small for the price. First there was no proper signage to the shop then you have to walk down the stairs to the basement (we had to carry down a stroller with a sleeping baby). As you go into the shop it was so gloomy, dodgy and no server at sight. We waited for about 15 minutes and a lady came out from the kitchen and asked what we wanted to order from over the counter from where we were seated instead of coming to the table. There were about 25 people (including 7 of us) in the ‘restaurant’ and none were eating or still waiting for their food. We assume this lady was the waitress and the cook as well. I didn't get a chance to go there because the restaurant was CLOSED at 6.30pm, which is 1 and a half hours before their posted closing time. This is not good. Yes, alhamdulillah that they are providing halal dining options, but with that needs to come accountability. You can't take the Muslims visiting the locality for a ride, as some of us come from far away and are excited that we can have halal options. Especially since Japan is not know for it's large number of halal restaurants. Overall, this was not a good impression....
