Keio Prelia Hotel Sapporo is arguably the best hotel I stayed at in Japan between Osaka, Tokyo and Sapporo.
When you arrive, check in is on the first floor immediately as you enter. Someone at the front desk acknowledged and greeted me every time. Staff was incredibly friendly. Check in was a breeze. There were multiple front desk staff members who helped me translate or call restaurants to see if they would take my reservation on short notice. I appreciated them so much!
The room felt sparkling clean and the amenities were awesome. Everything worked in the room. Thank you, housekeeping and engineering teams!
This was by far my hotel breakfast at any of the holes we stayed at and I basically ate here every morning. There was plenty of variety for us to choose from and the food was soooo tasty from Japanese to western-inspired dishes with specialty dishes from ingredients grown in Hokkaido!
The utensils, plates, bowls and cups were clean. They had fresh, hot award winning raclette cheese you could ask for to be poured over potatoes and veggies to order. The Hokkaido corn soup was so magical and made in a Dutch oven pot. I absolutely loved the housemade tofu that used Hokkaido soy beans, and the butter rice made with Hokkaido corn! Oh!! And the Hokkaido custard with bittersweet caramel was to die for. They also had this stunning honeycomb display sourced from multiple counties that dropped honey into a trough and was absolutely delicious.
This was the only hotel in Japan we stayed at that offered such a variety of specialty dishes, so it was extremely special to me.
All the restaurant staff and servers were extremely nice and extremely attentive with clearing our tables. Thank you so much to the back of house chefs/stewards and front of house restaurant staff! You guys seriously rock!!
I want to call the quality of the staff, room and restaurant out because you will be surprised the lack care you may encounter in a big city like Tokyo… it was a polarizing experience for me. I am so grateful to have one of the best hotel experiences ever at Keio in Sapporo.
The location is also excellent and fairly close to Daimaru and the Sapporo Station, about 2 blocks away.
Of all the hotels we stayed at in Japan this trip, this place was a top favorite. I would 100000% come back here when visiting Sapporo /...
Read moreThe room is quite narrow because I can’t really open my luggage anywhere.
But overall the room is quite beautiful, and there are a lot of things provided in the bathroom, so this is something that you will definitely see in a 5 star hotel. Not to mention the bed is really comfortable to sleep in, loved it. It smells great too, lol.
However, my biggest complaint is the public bath. The security is quite unfair and horrible as the women’s bath cannot be entered unless a password is given, but not the men’s bath. Why can’t the hotel give extra security to every guests regardless of gender? I as a male guest feel uncomfortable knowing that any woman can come inside my bath and see me and the other men naked. I will be better if the hotel gives men’s bath a password locker as well, therefore every guest is safe. The security needs to be improved by a lot.
Not to mention, as a male guest staying in this hotel, the facilities available to me and other men are slightly more limited than our female counterparts. I was thrilled when I saw that there is an after bath lounge available, until I noticed that it was for women and girls only. Why not give the same facilities to men? Not trying to sound egoistic here but a hotel is supposed to provide every guest equal access to their facilities and security regardless of their race or gender. This hotel fails to do so. What a massive disappointment. My family did not pay nearly 200 Euros per night just for the male guests in my family to not be able to use the relaxing lounge and not receive the same security as the female members in my family. I feel like this hotel is considered as “women-friendly” based on the services. Quite discriminating if you ask me. Not saying that women shouldn’t be safe, just saying that men should be as safe as women as well.
The location is quite decent. Not too far away from the Sapporo train station, just a short walk and arrived. So it’s all good.
But the hotel is quite expensive though.
Overall I do wish that the hotel change the way they treat its guests. Other than that,...
Read moreI love love love this hotel! The location is amazing, and the directions to the hotel is really easy to follow from the Sapporo Station. There are quite a few convenience stores nearby like Lawson, 7-11 and Seicomart, so it’s really convenient when you want to get something at night. Though I did not use their amenities, it seemed to be super clean and new too. They have a smoking room on the first floor but I rarely smell any smoke when I am waiting for the lift except for one day when there were exceptionally lots of smokers, so the lifts were filled with the smell. The room size is sufficient for me, since I’m travelling solo. I had enough space to open my luggage and enough hangers to hang my clothes. However, if you’re travelling as a couple or more, it probably wouldn’t be enough. The room is really clean and you can opt for room cleaning every day, and they would replenish all of the toiletries, water and green tea/coffee sachets. You can decide whether to change your bedsheet all of that, by placing a card on the bed to request for new bedsheets. The Tanukikoji Shopping Street is around 15-20mins walk from the hotel, may not be close for others but you can take the train from Sapporo :) for me, because I love walking, it was a pretty okay distance for me to walk. There are also some tourists attractions that are within walking distance such as the JR Tower, Sapporo Clock Tower, Sapporo TV Tower, Hokkaido University, etc. The only con I could find is that the staffs don’t really speak in English. So I had to use the translation app to ask them questions. Overall, I would want to stay there again when I’m travelling to Sapporo. It’s close to the central station so it’ll be easier for me to do day trips...
