This restaurant was located inside mystays hotel, first floor. We went in for lunch which included the salad bar and drink bar. The food was good and fresh, especially the salad bar. The main dish is quite small. And the salad bar plates are tiny as well.
Not sure why some other reviewers were told the bar is a one-time trip because I went back to the salad bar for two or three helpings, and was not told I couldn't. We had many cups of tea as well.
Very cute interior with a river running through the restaurant. Snow peak camping brand is used to decorate so there is a camping theme.
The reason for 2 star is service and price. We had a ¥1600 burger that came with a pinch of ketchup and mustard, enough for 1 fry. We asked for more and the server brought out another pinch enough for 1 fry. C'mon! We asked for more again and he had to go check if it was alright to do so. He reluctantly brought out more, this time enough for 2 fries. Hilarious how stingy they are with ketchup and mustard, considering we are paying so much for the burger and fries. The server was a foreigner who refused to speak English with us even though he was speaking English with a different server. His Japanese was not good, which led to lots of confusion over what beer we ordered and apparently how much ketchup we wanted. He ignored us several times when trying to stop him for more orders. He thoroughly made me feel uncomfortable. Will not be coming back, even for the free breakfasts included in our hotel stay (there are two...
Read moreMy wife and I ate here for dinner when we first arrived to Sapporo after arriving later in the evening.
The atmosphere was very cozy and relaxing with many trees (though fake) and a small stream down the center of the establishment. This restaurant is part of a Hotel so that is the first "knock" against it. It was empty, as are most Hotel restaurants, but had seating for 40+ so there is a lonely feeling to it. There are however GIANT glass windows that let you look out to the local streets from floor to ceiling.
The food was for the most part great. We had venison sausage, duck, octopus and sweet potato dish, and an amazing cheese filled onion dish. The only knock was the octopus which was too chewy...this could have been from over cooking or under cooking as that is a difficult meat to get right. However as I mentioned the cheese filled onion dish was down right amazing, that would bring us back here alone. The service was good, polite and quick.
Overall I gave it a 3/5 stars due to the lonely atmosphere but if you are looking for a place that you can walk into last minute and support a couple to a small group with great food then look no further. Just ensure you get the cheese...
Read moreSave your money, go to yakiniku. We had 3 different plates, and all were incredibly small portions, for high prices and lackluster quality. Its basically liberally salted grilled veggies. As a reasonably experienced home cook, I could replicate it.
The hokkaido beef full portion is 10 pieces of meat (and some grilled veggies to look like a full plate). Some pieces were chewy, and it was okay, but not special. For 3400 yen it should be superb. We even asked the wait staff if the full portion was enough for two people and they emphatically confirmed.
Overall, I struggle to find anything positive. We had asked staff to remove the covid barrier between us, but they said it was a regulation. Strange, because they had other cozy couches where people sat with no form of barriers. Who are you protecting me from, my wife? The emergency orders ended Monday, we are sharing food, where is the sense in this? The evening only got more absurd as our small table got additional food plates added and we were passing things around a wide acrylic stand. We cut our meal short, and left, but I wanted to save anyone else the trouble. Even if you're staying in the hotel, your money can go much farther...
