Ootoya — Restaurant in Sasebo

What a delightful surprise discovering this restaurant! As longtime residents of Hong Kong, we had never before tried the acclaimed 大户屋 brand, so we were eager to sample its offerings. After an action-packed morning at the nearby aquarium and boat ride, we happened upon this hidden gem quite by chance.

To our pleasant astonishment, the restaurant seemed to be poorly rated, which only added to our intrigue. However, the moment we sank our teeth into the deep-fried fish and pork sets, all doubts were immediately dispelled. The flavors were simply exquisite, and the excellent service and breathtaking views only elevated the experience.

This unassuming establishment has now secured a permanent spot on our culinary radar. We can't wait to return and explore more of 大户屋's acclaimed Cantonese cuisine. An absolute must-try for any discerning diner...

We were craving for rice or don in 🇯🇵 since we had one too much 🍜 🤣 this place is a good find as we weren’t googling whats good around here. It has a nice port view and definitely the sea too 😉 tables are well set apart without being too intrusive. we ordered fish meal sets and they are good 😋 big thick slices of fish and the sides are good too 👍🏻 the fish doesn’t have the fishy smell (which normally i really dislike) and they are well grilled/cooked. The set with vege is great too with an appetite appealing sauce. The miso soup is not that hot but warm to the tummy. Ordering is easy with the tablet which has english 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 translation so even non locals can easily make heads or tails over the menu. It isn’t over costly but the price paid is definitely well worth it....

Family-friendly restaurant with a variety of comfortable set meals. Lots of tasty fried options, and the tablet menu makes customizing your order easy, and it's pretty cheap if you don't go crazy with add-ons. We were happy with the portion sizes, too; my karaage meal came with around 7 or 8 generously-sauced...
