The food here was delicious. The quintessential hole-in-the-wall kind of place with a very lovely and hospitable owner (who is also the chef).

We asked for the most popular dishes as we don’t speak Japanese and the sushi he served us was super fresh and tasty (can opt in or out of wasabi) and the chicken broth made for the perfect rainy cozy evening experience.

The owner/chef showed us all the cuts of fresh fish so we knew what we were eating and kept our tea topped up the whole time.

The 11/10 food was made infinitely better by the chef. We were so happy to support his business. The set meal ( 12 pieces of sushi, chicken broth, and tea) was a lot cheaper than we thought it would be and we would happily pay more in future.

So if you’re looking for a hearty, fresh meal, at a homestyle-in-the-best-possible-way joint, this is...

Amazing small homestyle sushi spot ran by an incredibly sweet and accomodating Japanese gentleman.

I speak no Japanese and he spoke little English, but he made it work for us. I recommend doing what we did and asking him (through translator app) for his choice of popular dishes as there was no English menu. He brought us a selection of different sushi (and told us which each was), a chicken broth, and delicious eel(?) sushi.

You won’t be disappointed with the food or service!

Note: This is a smoking friendly place so if that bothers you, you might need to...

This was the best sushi I've had in my month traveling across Japan. The owner has been making sushi for over 50 years. He was extremely polite and patient considering I am a tourist.

He made us an incredible amount of quality sushi for the price. The presentation of the plate and the drinks was a nice touch. Despite the language barrier, we were able to chat about ourselves and the meal.

I have a hard time believing this place isn't more popular. Please stop by his restaurant if you've...

We had the most spectacular dinner here for 5 of us. Our tour Guide Ginji from Akita Ikana Travel recommended this place and we invited him to join us. The owner went pur of his way to provide gluten free options for my celiac wife and also cooked fish for our pregnant daughter. The food was awesome, the owner was awesome and Ginji was awesome. We highly recommend it/them all.
