Let me be clear. I have been a customer for several years as an American citizen and resident of Kagawa Japan. I have brought foreign guests to this restaurant because they were a flagship of good quality in food and service. Last week I was in the Takamatsu location and asked the waitress before ordering if the Corporate owners donated corporate funds to Maui Relief. I was advised by the staff that they collected money for relief from their customers only. My wife and I left and cancelled our order. An email was sent to the President of the company. He did not respond. I await a response and hope the ownership does more than exploit American culture and Hawaiian cuisine in particular for profits sake here in Japan. I hope I am wrong and Kona Cafe addresses the need for relief in a real, enduring manner. The world and Maui need real actions not words. Love the new dishes and service is great as usual. They even have some English speaking (a little) staff. And the coffee is amazing (particularly the cafe mocha). Read moreThe acai bowl was just as delicious as those I've had in Hawaii. The mochi chicken was ok, I didn't enjoy it as much as the acai bowl but still good! The atmosphere is very cute as well. It can be a little confusing in the beginning since I wasn't sure who the hostess was, the cashier or the wait staff, so it took me a few minutes to get seated.
