My wife and daughter visited from San Diego and stayed above Bar Gab. Asagaya is a great place quiet and away from the hustle of the bigger cities. After a long day of sightseeing Bar Gab was our place to go. Sit down rest your legs with an ice cold beer and a plate of steak fajitas. All the food is amazing to be honest and can’t go wrong with any choice you make. Mexican inspired with twist of Japan. Bambi the owner 10/10 such an amazing host and great person you will instantly fall in love with his charisma and personality. He has many great stories and hope you get a chance to hear about them. He has traveled all over and seen so much of the world. Also he speaks English so after a long day of traveling it’s a great easy way to enjoy and wine down. The alcohol selection is amazing whisky’s , tequilas , mezcals , wine and beer. He has great knowledge of mezcal and Mexican culture it was so amazing to hear and feel when you are there. The atmosphere is very relaxing and reminds me of being back in Mexico. If you visit Japan and don’t visit Bar Gab you truly are missing one of the best places in all of Japan. I truly feel I have made a life long friend in Bambi and Bar Gab has a special place in my heart. Bar Gab made me fall in love with Japan and will be the reason I return in the future. I highly recommend you visit this place as I hold it as the crown jewel of Japan. I am back home and after alittle over a week I still can’t stop thinking about my amazing time I truly miss the inviting and calm atmosphere and...

The atmosphere at Bar Gab is relaxed, and the decor is unique and well-curated, with a focus on the Mexican festival of "Dias de los muertos." Read moreAn overdue review, but my sister and I stayed above Bar Gab in our last visit to Japan from California. Our AirBnb hosts recommended the bar as a local gem, and it truly is a treasure!
The bar itself is quirky, cozy and fun! It’s tucked away in the residential neighborhood of Asagaya and only a 10 minute walk from Asagaya station. Lots of cool plants decorate the space with the most perfectly pink walls~
The owner, Bambi, was a joy to speak with, and we had lots to talk about as cat loving people! Fun fact: the bar is named after his cute cat! Bambi also gave me some recommendations of things to do or see in the neighborhood, which I really appreciated!
I had a gin & tonic as a nightcap for almost every night at this bar (amongst other drinks), hehe. The atmosphere is just so chill and comfortable to booze in. I miss this bar a lot, but I’ve been telling my friends to visit if they’re in the area! My coworker recently dropped by Bar Gab by my recommendation and loved it as well. I’m currently planning a return trip to Japan and I’ll definitely be visiting my fave bar...
