First time having okonomiyaki and it was very enjoyable. They have an English menu for you to choose from. However, be sure to take a look at their online site as they have an English version of their lunch specials. Be aware the lunch specials are 1/2 the size of their normal portions so if you have a healthy appetite - you should probably order the normal-sized portion.

Their lunch special also has an add-on option for around ¥200 to get 2 sides, both with 2 different options. First side is a salad, choose from a cabbage salad or daikon salad. Next, you can choose a miso soup and frozen orange slices or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I didn't know how to make my okonomiyaki and the waiter was very helpful and spoke English. First, you put oil and spread it across the teppan surface. Mix your okonomiyaki well then put it onto the teppan. Use the spatulas to make it round and wait about 5 minutes then flip it over to cook some more. In the picture I took, the oil container is the one on the right. The other container has yakisoba sauce. Add the okonomiyaki sauce which is in a squeeze container along with the katsuoboshi (dried bonito flakes) and aonori (dried green seaweed) which are in...

Doutonbori is a fantastic place for okonomiyaki! It's one of our favorite places. They have an English menu and an English explanation pamphlet on how to do the grilling process. Their lemon sours are always a hit, and they have a soda bar otherwise. The pancakes are a great dessert option as well. You will need to take your shoes off so make sure to wear socks! They have lockers at the entrance for your shoes to store while you eat and have slippers at the...

Some points of information -Required to take off your shoes before you go to the seating area. -Seating area is sunken into the ground so if you have a leg injury it may be a struggle getting in. -Have an english menu with pictures -You cook your own food. They have step by step instructions of how to cook each item. 4/5 stars on the translation to english. -Can pay with cash or card after the meal. -A designated smoking area is located outside by the back...

Savory, meat-based pancakes you make yourself are a uniquely Japanese thing and not for everyone. However, they do them very well here. The staff is good enough with English to get by, and the menu had enough grill-based stuff (yakisoba, yakiniku, fried rice, etc) that it should satisfy people who aren't convinced about making pancakes with squid in them. It's a fun group outing and not too expensive either.
