I stopped by ITSUKI Coffee Roastery in Higashi‑Nakano to grab a takeout coffee, and I’m really glad I did. The shop is on the 1st floor of a modest building at 4‑4‑3 Yamauchi, just a short walk from the station.
From the curb, the aroma of freshly roasted beans caught my attention even before I walked in. Inside, the space is small but warm — simple wood finishes, a few seats, and a quiet, intentional atmosphere.
I ordered their cold brew coffee (水出しアイスコーヒー) for takeout. They mention that their ice coffee is brewed slowly over eight hours, bringing out a deep fragrance, richness, and delicate sweetness — and I must say, it delivered.
They also offer “coffee of the day” drip options (日替わりドリップコーヒー), and I peeked at the menu: beans from Guatemala, Ethiopia, Brazil, etc.
One treat I couldn’t resist was their coffee jelly (コーヒーゼリー), topped with a homemade marmalade. On a hot day, that sounds absolutely perfect — creamy, chilled, with a balance of bitterness and sweetness.
The barista was friendly and asked what flavor profile I liked (fruity, mellow, etc.), then suggested a bean accordingly — that personal touch made me feel like I was more than just a quick stop.
As a takeaway visit, the service was swift, and they packaged the coffee carefully so it stayed cool and fresh on the walk home. The price felt fair for the quality and craft behind it.
If I were to suggest one thing, it's that because it’s a small café, the interior isn’t expansive, so if you plan to stay in, mornings might be the best time to secure a seat.
All told, ITSUKI Coffee Roastery is a lovely gem for coffee lovers who appreciate thoughtfully roasted beans, attention to detail, and a calm but warm environment. Next time, I’ll try one of their drip coffees or even a hot sandwich...
Read moreI had their dark roasted black coffee alongside a classic coffee jelly topped with vanilla ice cream, and both delivered a simple yet satisfying depth.
The coffee had a full-bodied richness with a roasty aroma. It’s a bold brew that didn’t overwhelm, and the flavor stayed smooth even as it cooled.
The coffee jelly was just as delightful, firm and flavorful, clearly made from their own roast. The scoop of vanilla ice cream added a creamy contrast that softened the roasted notes, creating a nostalgic yet refined...
Read moreAs a coffee lover ,I can say that this place is the place to go . I grind my own coffee back at my country , so I know a thing or two and I can say that the owner knows his coffee beans and how to make them with a timer, weight distribution on scale , and excellence making . He is really friendly. You can also work with a laptop there, really good vibes and nice low music. (Mind is not a big coffee shop) And only 1-2 minutes from Higashi station .
Please visit this place !
Love...
