McDonald’s was one of the things I was eager to try when I was in Japan. I had seen and heard many things about how different Japanese McDonald’s are compared to the U.S., but I guess nothing beats seeing the truth for myself.
This store is located near a busy intersection; it is especially crowded during the morning rush hour. I came here on a morning during Golden Week, so the crowd was triple compared to a normal day.
I ordered a breakfast combo set via the self-service machine. The process was swift, and there were several languages available, making it easier for non-Japanese speakers. Since all the seats on the ground level were already taken, I headed down to the basement.
There is no restroom or even a sink to wash hands in the basement. There are plenty of seats, but space is quite tight; plus-size people would find this layout very uncomfortable.
My set included teriyaki chicken sandwiches, a hashbrown, and a large coffee, which is equivalent to a small one in the U.S. The teriyaki chicken sandwiches seem to be an exclusive item to Japanese McDonald’s.
The hashbrown and coffee taste almost the same as their U.S. counterparts. The teriyaki chicken sandwiches consist of a piece of processed chicken patty drenched in teriyaki sauce, a slice of cheddar, some cabbage flakes, and a breakfast bun. It has a standard, generic flavor of teriyaki sauce, but not entirely unpleasant; I must say the teriyaki sauce leans more towards savory than sweetness, unlike the U.S. version of the sauce.
I really like the packaging with popular anime characters, a common thing in Japan but rare in the rest of the world. It would make a cool souvenir if I could remember to ask for...

Also to add, the restroom is always in use since there is only one toilet for each gender. I suggest if you really need to use the toilet to go to the Tobu Store that's across from the restaurant.
It is convenient to the Nanboku Metro, the Toden Arakawa Line, and the Keihin Tohoku Line. I can sometimes order in English.
The food is hot and fresh because it's a busy place. They remodeled the restaurant a few years ago but is still too small for the demand. I hope they expand the size of it...
