Here was not worth trying.
They keep talking to foreigners in Japanese even though they know those don’t understand. I felt really bad for them, so I translated for them but they really didn’t thank me much about that.
Flavor : Pastry was good. Well made European style. But cakes are just the average. Not outstanding at all. You can definitely find better places in your neighbourhood.
Service : BAD. There was just one piece of chocolate mousse left which we wanted, but they accidentally skipped us and the people behind us took the last piece. I told them and I wanted to get the last piece, but they simply tried to replace with another chocolate flavor. Is there any store that staffs never apologize or take it serious about skipping customers and those customers missed what they wanted even though they had the right?
Space : Very close to next tables. Not comfortable during this COVID situation.
It is very sad because how it’s presenting is cute but other elements are not...
Read moreit's actually my second visit to this place. last time it was still quite new and not as famous as all guidebooks talked about it. it's a long time ago so i'd treat this as a completely new visit! still amazed by the lovely cakes behind the window cabinet. unfortunately i came alone so can't pick more, only 1. i got the strawberry puff as it's in season now. after choosing the cake i was lead to sit at the dine-in area. then drink menu was given. the puff was lightly sweetened and the cream was very soft. not only 1 strawberry at the top but also a huge one in the middle. so i was very satisfied with the seasonal strawberry here! they don't take reservation, just walk in. so better come in weekdays to avoid the crowd. lovely dessert and i definitely will come back, hope not another few years!
hope you find the photos i took beautiful & useful ;) follow me on ig:...

We were almost finished with our pastries when another staff member approached us and rudely ordered us to leave, despite the fact that we were 1-2 bites from finishing anyways. We had to haphazardly pack up our almost-finished pastries and leave. What made it worse was that he just stood over us and stared while all of this was going on, which made it all the more discomforting and intimidating.
I have never had any experiences with such rude and inconsiderate staff elsewhere in Japan, and hope that the Mont St Clair staff can figure out between them whether or not their patrons are allowed to eat on the bench when their...
