Saigon Kamimachi — Restaurant in Tokyo

First impression, the decoration makes you feel like you're in a Vietnamese restaurant. Once you're at your table, the menu was not what we expected. It was a mix of Vietnamese, Nepalese/Indian and Thai food, but the last two dominated the Vietnamese dishes. Pictures were so bad quality... I ordered a pho, using the vietnamese pronunciation, but the waitress with a poney tail was surprised with her big eyes, and said "nandesuka??" in a rude way. So I had to find it it in the menu and show it to her. The other plate we ordered was a chicken rice which was fine.

The bowl of pho was a joke, small with 4 thin slices of beef. The taste was light and salty, like a mix of water and salt.

Overall, the service was poor, staffs were chatting behind the counter, attitude of the lady was rude. If you look for vietnamese foods, forget...

Like others, we have passed by this place many times and always wanted to visit. Tonight we did.

Very mixed feelings. Also like others, we felt like the tables and chairs were painful. Pretty, but so not practical.

The food? Also very mixed. We made the mistake of ordering the Nepalese (?) cheese naan. It was revolting (I mean, literally, the worst thing I’ve been served in Japan), with nearly a kilogram of terrible melted cheese. Almost an hour later, I still feel sick.

Our spring rolls were the highlight of the meal. Subtle in terms of taste, but delicious. Our large phos had a stunningly complex soup base, but were light on meat and the noodles were falling apart (over cooked?).

I wish I could give 2.5 stars. 3 stars is overly generous, but 2 stars is a bit too harsh.

A place we often passed and was always keen to try it. The first impression wasn’t the greatest. Service was really lacking. The seating looks good, but practically it wasn’t comfortable at all. Felt forgotten in terms of service which wasn’t great. In terms of food, the place sells both Vietnamese and Nepalese, which leaves a confusing impression.
