The shop is bright and beautifully furnished, and I have great respect for the sign-language friendliness of the store and its staff. That being said, I've been to dozens of Starbucks in Tokyo, and this is the one with the slowest service by far. With four (!) staff members present and just two customers ahead of me, I had to wait more than 10 minutes for my two-drink order -- only to find out when it was handed over that they had made a wrong drink, and had to re-make it again. So be sure to allow for some extra time to receive your caffeinated (or, in my case,...
This is a Starbucks where most of the staff are hearing-impaired and use sign language to serve customers (there are also staff who are not hearing-impaired, but they are not always stationed at the cashier, etc.). That doesn't mean that you can't order if you can't sign, but you can order by pointing. Therefore, you will receive customer service that is almost the same as the customer service at many Starbucks. If you are new to Starbucks and don't know anything about it, you may be a little confused, but I think you will get used to it as you use it more and more. If you need to specify details such as the amount of cream or the removal of ice, they can accommodate you, depending on the degree, and in some cases, they can be assured of the help of non-hearing impaired staff. It's located on the first floor of the shopping mall "nonowa Kunitachi" directly connected to Kunitachi Station, and although it's indoors, there is no partition between the inside and outside of the cafe. The counter seats are equipped with power outlets for charging. There are a few wide pillars inside the cafe, so it's a little difficult to see what is going on...
Read moreBeen to the signing store in Washington DC and this is very similar. Staff members are very helpful and service was wonderful. The only difference between this store and the DC store was the lack of a tablet or paper to write your orders if you did not know how to sign. There were plenty of menus with pictures though so you can easily point and order. The store exclusive journal was in stock, while the mug was sold out. Coffee and pastries taste like any other Starbucks, well made...
