I used to regularly go to KALM down the block for quality coffee and a comfortable place to work. Lately they’ve had irregular hours, so I ended up finding Stone River across the way with a much cozier atmosphere, impeccable coffee and an all-star barista who I could tell was truly passionate about both coffee and the community.
My new main spot has now shifted to Stone River and I am a huge advocate for the genuine good vibes and outstanding cups of coffee produced from this humble, stylish cafe. The iced hand drip Guatemala coffee was floral and juicy with hints of passion fruit which was just what I needed on a hot day. I was very pleased that when I bought the beans, I was able to taste the same flavors at home which showcased the quality and consistency of the beans being sourced to customers.

Read moreI've only been here twice (will definitely change!), but both times the owner-barista-roaster was always excited to introduce and talk about his coffees.
What instantly drew me in is that he sourced beans from the Yunnan region, which I read about but never actually seen it offered in cafes, here in Tokyo nor in Vancouver. Just seeing that on the menu, I knew what to expect.
It's really a local neighborhood spot, I saw familiar faces the second time around, chatting with other coffee enjoyers.
