First visit Sunday May 18th to âThere is ramenâ near Okikubo station on the Chuo line.
Parked directly across the street in a paid parking lot with lots of spaces at 1:47pm. Only a few people were waiting, and we took a seat outside on chairs that are set out in front of the store, and we waited. Waited less than 10 minutes, and then was asked to enter the store and order our meal from the ticket vending machine.
We ordered:
Wonton chashu mien for 1430 yen Large size for extra 150 yen Wonton mien for 1160 yen
After we got our tickets from the vending machine, we were sent back outside to sit down, and 2 minutes later we were invited into the shop to sit down. The inside atmosphere was nothing remarkable, and the floor was really oily. Less than 3 minutes later, our ramen was served.
My wonton chashu ramen was packed with delicious chashu. There were the standard menma and Negi and a piece of nori (seaweed) on top, along with a little fish rice cake. The niboshi based soup was tasty, and slightly salty which Iâm totally ok with. The noodles were almost spaghetti-like in style/appearance. Lastly the aji-tama (seasoned egg) was served in a separate dish on the side and pre-sliced in half. I didnât find the egg to be extremely flavorful. My wife said her wontons seemed to not have anything inside of them- just had the wonton skin. Not sure if their fillings ruptured and fell out and stayed on the bottom- as she didnât finish her soup. Or maybe that is how the wontons are? Also the soup was a tad too salty for her.
Overall a very satisfying meal, and I can see why "There is Ramen" was nominated for Tablelogâs top 100 ramen shops for 2024.
Thank you for a...

Quite an interesting bowl! This chashumen resembled a classic chuuka soba bowl, but the broth was much more viscous due to the high usage of niboshi. The base is still a chicken broth with a light shoyu tare tho. I saw some people complain about the loud radio that the owner plays during service lol. I don't really mind it tbh but I guess it does give off a weird vibe when the bowls they serve are very refined. there is ramen also entered the Michelin guide as a Bib at the end...
