Anbe — Restaurant in Tottori

This is my most disastrous experience ever in Japan.

We reserved a table and arrived on time, but turned out waiting for more than 1 hr and left finally. We were annoyed for the endless “please wait” without actively following up, and we finally found out that they forgot to update our booking!

The staffs seem to be entirely lack of proper training as they failed to fulfill their reception duty and they have apparent miscommunication between themselves and with the guests (no one is specified for this position, and some other guests had also waited for a long time but they didn’t even notice that). Even worse, one of them seems to be impolite to foreigners by confirming our foreign identities without any sense, even we can understand and speak Japanese.

I strongly discourage any foreign visitors to come here unless you have a good luck, a lot of spare time and enjoy taking risks. This is an quite exceptional case and I am sure there must be other much...

Anbe was recommended to me by a few locals as I was looking for a good place to try the famous Tottori Crab.

The meal was amazing - bursting with different flavour and texture. You also get instructions explaining every single part of the dish and unlimited crab miso.

Considering the quality and freshness of the food, I am very glad I decided to visit Anbe and would likely go again...
