Suehiro — Restaurant in Ureshino

It's been exactly a year since I've been here, and I was actually planning to revisit if it wasn't for the damned pandemic. So treat this review as if it was written a year ago. This is the place if you want to taste local goodness. Ureshino specializes in onsen-tofu, yuzu, green tea and seafood (it's more like freshwater fish from the river but w/e), and these are pretty much what are on the menu.

I thoroughly enjoyed the onsen-tofu set, but if you're from a western background with no experience in tofu, the texture might throw you off so keep that in mind. I've had a load of various tofu's around the world, and the tofu here had a unique bean flavor that stood out without seasoning. They give you sauce on the side, so you can try the escalation of flavors throughout the meal.

The old lady who seems to be running this place was also very kind. She actually gave us the reservation room with separate air conditioning when me and my bro were trying to sit in the regular area. The people are so kind and professional! Retro restaurants like these are so rare and valuable nowadays.

Sashimi is REALLY FRESH because they catch the fish right away from the tub.

I ordered tempura and sashimi set, a single onsen yudofu, and a single horse mackerel sashimi('aji' in japanese).

Ordering all these, the fee was only 3,520 jpy. COSPA is also wonderful. If you are going to order just a single set, it will cost between 1,000~1,500 jpy.

店舗の道を挟んだ向かい側にある広めの駐車場に車を置きました。 日曜日20時前、Googleで22時まで営業と確認して伺ったところ20時閉店とのこと。 ですが、ほかの方も書いておられましたが、ベテラン年齢の女将さんと思われる方が「せっかくいらしたのだからどうぞ」と快く受け入れてくださいました。お店の方の対応だけでも気持ちよく来てよかったと思えました。 定食ならできるとのことで、あらかぶ味噌汁定食と湯豆腐定食を注文。 待っていると水槽からお魚を上げている様子が見え、湯豆腐定食のお刺身として出てきました。 ざっと見て、定食はうなぎでも2千円せず、どれも千円台のお値段。生簀のお魚が出てくるなんて申し訳ないほど。 味噌汁はあらかぶが2匹も入っていて魚の出汁もしっかり感じられ、付いている煮物などもどれもおいしく大満足。 建物は新しくはありませんが、昭和か平成初めからしっかり維持されてきた感じ。 営業されている方のお人柄が感じられ、地元の方に愛されているお店なのだろうと思いました。 営業者のご年齢が高そうですが、このようなお店が...
