Ideshoten is located at a prominent spot on the corner of Tanakaguchi intersection, about an 8-minute walk from JR Wakayama Station. This time, I visited Ideshoten at the request of a visitor from Canada. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a line of about 35 people. We waited for about 35 minutes, and they took our order while we were in line.

We ordered the Special Chuka Soba (with extra char siu) and hayazushi. It had been a while since my last visit, but as soon as I took a sip of the soup, I realized that the strong pork bone smell we noticed outside was completely absent, and the flavor was very light. The char siu was thinly sliced but plentiful, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that was delicious. The straight noodles had a nice firmness and a great texture.

The restaurant has only counter seats and was almost full when we visited around 8 PM. The atmosphere was that of a traditional ramen shop, bustling with local regulars and tourists. The ramen's flavor was a rich tonkotsu soy sauce, characterized by a slightly sweet soy sauce. The Special Chuka Soba, with its generous portion of char siu, was particularly satisfying.

We also tried Wakayama's specialty, hayazushi. The mackerel had a mild fishy taste typical of white fish, and the vinegar-flavored rice complemented it well. While the combination with ramen was unique, both were delicious when eaten separately.

The parking lot is close to the restaurant, located along the main road. There's a large sign, making it easy to find, but be careful not to mistake the monthly parking lot next to it for the restaurant's parking.

Ideshoten is famous for its Wakayama ramen, known as the "Ide style," representing the local ramen of Wakayama. This visit reaffirmed that the taste has remained consistent over the years, and I was very satisfied. When I visit Wakayama again, I definitely plan to stop by. Next time, I'd like to try the "Shakomae style"...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ide Shoten, a renowned ramen shop not far from Wakayama Station. This place has earned quite a reputation, having won first place on the TV show Champion, and it absolutely lived up to the hype.

The ramen at Ide Shoten is nothing short of spectacular. The broth was rich and flavorful, striking the perfect balance between savory and umami. The noodles had just the right amount of chewiness, and the toppings were fresh and abundant, complementing the dish perfectly. Every bite was a delight, making it clear why this ramen has received such high accolades.

Despite its popularity, the wait time was surprisingly short. The restaurant was bustling with customers, but the staff managed the crowd efficiently, ensuring that everyone was seated promptly. The service was friendly and quick, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

The ambiance at Ide Shoten was warm and welcoming, creating a cozy atmosphere to enjoy a delicious meal. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, offering great value for the quality of food.

If you’re in Wakayama, Ide Shoten is a must-visit for any ramen enthusiast. The combination of outstanding ramen, efficient service, and a pleasant atmosphere makes it well worth the visit. I highly recommend giving it a try – you won’t be...

I had the pleasure of dining at Ide Shoten in Wakayama City, renowned for being the originator of Wakayama Ramen. The experience was nothing short of delightful. As I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by walls adorned with autographs of celebrities who had visited, adding to the shop's authentic and historic charm.

I ordered their signature Tonkotsu Soy Sauce Ramen, and it was a revelation. The straight noodles were perfectly cooked, providing an ideal texture that complemented the rich and flavorful broth. The tonkotsu soy sauce blend was exceptional, offering a depth of flavor that was both hearty and satisfying.

As a side, I couldn't resist trying their Saba Sushi, which turned out to be a great choice. It was fresh and provided a nice contrast to the ramen. This combination of dishes made for a balanced and enjoyable meal.

Dining at Ide Shoten was an experience that went beyond just the taste of the food; it was about soaking in the history of Wakayama Ramen. This place is a must-visit for anyone in Wakayama City looking to experience a piece of culinary history and enjoy some truly...

Ide Shoten is the most famous ramen shop in Wakayama and it is even well-known across Japan. This little shop has been around since 1953, making only one type of ramen, “Ide style” Wakayama Ramen. Wakayama ramen has a base of soy sauce and tonkotsu pork bone with thin noodles. This restaurant does the soup a bit thicker than other places I’ve tried, so it has has a nice, deep, rich flavor. It’s no surprise there is a line even before the shop opens its doors. While they only make one ramen, they have varying options of larger portion of noodles and/or chashu, priced very reasonably from 700¥ to 900¥. I opted for their Special Large Soba at 900¥ with a flavored egg for 100¥ more. I was impressed with the great value and the nice, flavorfully savory taste. Before I left, I also picked up a Haya Sushi for 150¥ ($ USD), which are commonly sold at all restaurants that serve Wakayama Ramen (well, at least in the area). It’s a pretty typical Mackerel sushi, but I could see how it could go well to lighten up your tastebuds from the heavy ramen.

Imagine a place where the air is filled with tantalizing aromas, and where a bowl of ramen becomes an unforgettable experience. Look no further than Ide Shoten 井出商店, a renowned ramen joint that once claimed the title of "Best Ramen in Japan." Having personally experienced their culinary brilliance, I can confidently say that it is a well-deserved accolade. Upon arriving, be prepared for a wait time of around 30 minutes. But trust me, every minute spent lingering outside is well worth it. The anticipation builds as you watch the chefs passionately work their magic through the open kitchen, crafting each bowl with meticulous care. Once you're finally seated, it's time to savor the taste of perfection. The broth, rich and flavorful, captures the essence of traditional Japanese ramen, making each spoonful a delight to your taste buds. Whether you choose their soy-based shoyu ramen or the creamy tonkotsu, there is no wrong choice – every option is exquisite.
