KUBOTA食堂 — Restaurant in Yokohama

One of my favorite meals in Japan!! I had never tried Japanized western food before, so I was really excited to try to famous hamburg steak. It was incredible ~ so flavorful with really rich, balanced flavors. I wanted to order another one 😝

But I think the best part was the service. I came in with my luggage worried they would turn me away, but they kindly made a space for all of my things without hesitation. Shunji, the owner, was so kind and welcoming. He noticed me struggling with the menu and began to chat with me in perfect English. It really brightened up my night meeting him and was the perfect end to my day in Yokohama. Can't wait to stop by next time I'm in town :) Thank you!

Book a dinner via website few months before our day trip to Yokohama on a Saturday. Lucky we did that as this venue can be fully booked especially on weekend evening. We had our early dinner at 5pm and it was already packed or tables being reserved.

Order the highly recommended hamburg steaks. As per the photo and other people reviews, the taste and the texture is really worth our decision to come here for dinner on our only night in Yokohama. I will give 10/10 for this food.

We order crème brûlée for sharing. Taste was great too. 9/10, probably our taste buds haven’t switched over yet.

Came here on 6/14 with no reservation and was graciously welcomed and seated by the server. I got the Hamburg steak lunch set that came with miso soup and rice. The steak was well done but still tender and juicy. The beefy sauce was not overpowering and flavorful. The steamed veggies were not mushy which was great. This was an amazing value meal and there are many homemade lemon sours or grapefruit sours which are great in the summer. I got their rose beer which was refreshing. The waiter who served us was very friendly and helpful. He spoke English quite well and was conversational and recommending tourist attractions around the area.
