Tonkatsu-waguri is a restaurant specialized in Japanese deep-fried pork (tonkatsu). It’s located near Keio University Hiyoshi campus. I went for lunch with three classmates. It’s the new rice season and the rice was delicious. I ordered the cheapest set that costs 1,000 yen. The pork is of HIGH quality. Very balanced mix with lean meat 70% and juicy and fragrant fat 30%. The cabbage was sliced thin but not so sweet. Tonjiru (pork miso soup) was as good as tonkatsu. The pickled reddish (dsukedaikon) is of standard taste. Presentation was good. Service was good. Slight long waiting time of 5-10 min. Cleanliness good. Only shortfall was the oil maybe used too many times and the color of the skin is dark. They did not serve wet tissue (oshibori). This set meal was very filling, and for the portions they provided I feel like the price is reasonable. The katsu was fried perfectly and the flavor was just as good! The meat was a little pink but it still tasted good so it was fine.
The set comes with white rice, thinly sliced cabbage, and tonjiru (pork soup). The soup was filled with other vegetables, like onions and daikon, which made...

As always, really juicy and tender pork. Loin has some fat and I think I like it more (¥500 cheaper too).
There are 3 different types of salt which really brings out the taste of the Tonkatsu. A must try at this place. Of course with the usual sauce and the curry set, you can pretty much have 5 different tastes.
Cabbage is fresh and slightly sweet. Pork based miso soup is also top ranked tasty too.
Give this place a try if you are around. Guaranteed a line up during usually meal times, going slightly early or later is...
