Being close to a naval base, Yokosuka generally caters to a rowdier bunch. Plenty of bars, burgers and debauchery. This being the norm up and down Yokosuka, it is very easy to miss the narrow alleyway that leads up to Cafe Antiques. Turning off of the main drag (just next to the Mikasa shopping center), it almost feels like you are venturing into a Ghibli film. A quaint and simple interior filled with books, curios and a small kitchen, the experience is nothing short of magical as you eat from a very limited menu and drink either tea or coffee with a small cookie for dessert. The owner might seem serious at the first but I understand that she's trying to preserve this place. She doesn't want her beautiful place to turn out like a major coffee shop, and I respect that. She makes the best hot chocolate and biscuits. She takes time and her ingredients are high quality. This is a place to relax and read a book. I love the ambiance.
