We were forced to order a drink because they have a "one drink minimum" per purchase. The bagels were small and overpriced for what you can get elsewhere in Oki. We were yelled at to put our computers away because they wanted a "socializing vibe" even though others had their heads in their phones or notebooks. They had VERY limited seating and we were also instructed to move to accommodate another guest as we were about to finish our drinks that we HAD to purchase. The workers also told us that we couldn't have our laptops out because we were supposed to enjoy the view, we were facing the preparation area. What view did I have, workers preparing food and drinks? The "view" was limited to a small window only to be viewed from four barstools. Where we sat was away from the windows because when we walked in there were two Japanese locals sat on each end of the window seats. One of the locals had his face in his phone and was not "enjoying the view" but when we sat in the back of the "cafe" to get some work done we were forced to put our devices away? This was by far the worst place I've gone to put here from the "vibe" alone. I'm not a child nor am I in school. Going to a cafe to get work done and having someone instruct you that you can't use your laptop because they don't like the "vibe" on top of being forced to order a drink if you want food, I will not be returning. The food (and coffee forced upon us) was not good enough to ever justify going back. Don't even get me started on their "parking lot" that was damn near impossible to get UP to. (The view was so much better outside...
Read moreI'm embarrassed to say it's taken me this long to leave a review for Margiche. Margiche is one of the first places we ate when we moved to this area and it immediately became a weekly ritual to return there.
Margiche is an absolute hidden gem, the bagels are great, the coffee is amazing (we constantly go back to buy their beans), and the people who work there are extremely warm and inviting. It always feels like we're going over to see a good friend when we visit there.
Also, they have some pretty cool merchandise and stylish apparel.
The view from the window is beautiful and the local area has a surprisingly large amount to offer. It was 100% worth the trip just for the coffee and bagel alone, and if you have time you should walk around and explore the Nagahama coastline and the other great shops while...
Read moreSuper small coffee shop located in a residential area with a nice view. Went mid morning and it was already pretty busy. There was only one person taking orders as well as making the food, so I ended up waiting about 30-35 minutes for my one bagel. However, the guy working was very nice and apologetic about the wait. The bagel itself was on the smaller side for the price but it was good. The prosciutto was nice and salty and the cheese bagel was light and nicely toasted. I got the garlic butter instead of cream cheese and I was worried it would be dry, but it wasn't. Overall pretty good, not sure if I'd go back because of the parking and the wait but if you live close by...
