The beach club was recommended to me by my partner. I did not however turn up with huge expectations (I think) but we turned up at 12:05 and were told food was only served from 12:30. Not a good start (as we had to pick up our daughter in just over an hour). I didn’t realize you couldn’t eat at midday anymore in the UK!?? Also the restaurant was half full of customers waiting for the same thing, presumably. Moving on..
The place is located overlooking St Brelades beach, which is great, has a nice parking, albeit slightly small if the restaurant is busy, so you’ve been warned.
The restaurant is new (2022) and nicely decorated if somewhat unimaginative and from the production line of commercial decor.
The menu is your placemat, so not very smart but hey if the food is good that doesn’t matter. It does point to a relaxed (gastro?) pub type of cuisine. The menu doesn’t show gluten free options, so for this and other allergens you have ask for a separate document. Not ideal as many places have everything listed together and it’s simple to accomplish.
Prices are reasonable and priced to suit most middle budgets. Salad £10.50 extras like chicken £5.75 (at time of writing) burgers £16-17. So not cheap but the view/location is great so count it as the beach tax if you like.
The background music was slightly “pumping” which I didn’t like, but not terrible, just irritating as I felt like I should be on a spinning bike.
So how was the food!? Well in a word “bad”. The dishes would have been acceptable except for the salt fest that had obviously occurred in the kitchen. My tastes are heavily in the salt loving bracket, so for me to not be able to eat my dish when really hungry is terrible. My partner had ordered the salmon and even though it was nicely cooked and presented it was also incredibly salty. Unfortunately we left our dishes half finished and rushed off to pick up our daughter. As an addendum, I had asked the staff to see if we could order before the kitchen opened as we had a predicament, but they insisted the kitchen would only shout at them for placing an order in advance. I highly disagree with this way of operating and think it’s a big no no for the kitchen team to dictate operational procedures when they should focus on imaginative dishes that are prepared carefully and not botched like ours were, rendering them totally inedible. Would I recommend? ..in good conscience I cannot.
Will I return..? no chance! You might have a better experience, maybe it’s a one off, but my £40 is going return magically to my account so I won’t...
Read moreI don’t like leaving bad reviews but feel this visit warrants it.
We had been staying in Jersey all week and had lovely meals / service in the various Randall’s restaurants we had visited. We visited the beach club for our final breakfast before flying home and honestly wish we had gone somewhere else.
As soon as we walked in we were asked if we had booked, which we hadn’t, and by the looks of the seated guests it didn’t warrant a booking. The restaurant was a third full but we were pointed to just two high bar tables, and told they were the only tables available. We thought this a little strange as the main restaurant was quite empty.
Anyway, a very serious looking lady, who appeared to be the manager, brought menus and took our drinks order, which swiftly arrived. However, after 40 minutes of waiting for our food order to be taken and watching numerous waiters walk straight past us, we had to ask somebody to take our order. Again, the rather serious looking lady came to take the order, and clearly wasn’t happy that we had chased her.
This booking / seating / delayed service issue appeared to be a common problem, with some guests being told there were no tables, when in fact there were probably 15 empty tables in the main restaurant. One lady, who clearly had walking / mobility issues was told she would have to sit on the high chairs / tables in the bar area, which she struggled with.
Once the food arrived it was very nice, but the slow service and being made to feel like we were imposing, ruined our visit.
We wouldn’t hurry back, as there are much nicer and friendlier restaurants a stones throw away. Such a shame as it’s a lovely looking venue in a...
Read moreWe had a good dinner experience here. Good food, friendly and attentive staff members, great atmosphere.
Good portion sizes and not overly expensive. We looked at the menu and went for tapas style to share between us. The meat platter was very tasty. Crispy chicken wings, just how I like them. It comes with chips and salad.
Credit to the chef! From the food quality, you can safely say that the chef is passionate about his menu and that he cares about it. He (who we thought was the chef, the person who seemed to be leading the kitchen and making sure every dish meets the standard before he rings the bell) did seem passionate when we glanced at the kitchen as we were sitting on the high chairs area.
A medium size car park at the back or other car parks nearby. Plenty of tables inside and outside but recommend to pre-book. We were lucky and got a space at the restaurant. The code to get out of the car park was on the receipt.
I have also tried breakfast and a caesar salad with halloumi on separate occasions which were really good too. Overall, pretty good. Recommend this place and will definitely go back again soon.
We went back for more and sat outside this time before the summer was over. Another...
