BAD BUSINESS.
My family and I had absolutely horrendous service in Pizza Express, St Brelades yesterday the 18th August. For 1st time visitors to the island, we left with sour taste in our mouths. 1st we waited over 10 minutes for someone to even offer to take the drinks menu, we then had to go to the till to ASK to be served, then someone came over.. we had hungry kids wanting to eat.
I asked the person who had come to take our order if we had to also ask for them to also take the drinks order too or they will take it then? Seeing as we had to ask to be served.. It was a literal question as usually you get offered drinks 1st even as you go through the menu. The person taking the order then accuses me of “having a go at him” rants off, talks about “I don’t have to take your order, someone else will..” etc etc.. I then asked them to get the someone else. After a ?manager ?supervisor comes over to take the order, I ask her if that is how customer service works (in regards to the guy that stormed off) and she instead says I was “quite abrupt” (in regards to me asking about the drinks order) No impartiality shown, no ‘sorry it took a while to come get your order..’ just “well that was abrupt” comment after I told her about the male server’s attitude. We were left wondering how she would know that it was ‘abrupt’ when she didn’t even witness the conversation? Shouldn’t a senior staff try to make it right instead of brushing off the customer? The attitude to me was like we were a bother & were unwanted there.
Alot of staff just kept walking past/ looking at our table, saw the menus (I suppose) still there but didn’t even bother ask to take the orders. As an example, a couple next to us with a child got served yet they actually came after us. We initially after arrival asked to be moved to one of the different tables (fair enough we didn’t have a booking) which as we exited most of them were still empty including the one I had asked to be moved to.
It was a VERY cold, rude and nonchalant service. I know alot of people probably like it there, but this was our experience. For the prices these ‘restaurants’ ask, the service is completely wanting & very unbothered.
My siblings are 16 & 13 and they ARE actually who pinpointed that we hadn’t been even offered a drink yet others who came in got served when we waited to even be offered a glass of water.

Read moreWe were a group of 15 people. We had to pre-book our food a day before as it was for Saturday lunch. Some of us got there 15 mins after the time we booked for and it was shocking to see, they had served all the 15 pizzas already and they went cold and hard even before we sat down.
The restaurant was nearly empty, as only 6 other people were dining. And yet there was no one to take our drink order, we walked to the counter every time to order a cold drink on a very sunny afternoon.
When the last person arrived late due to an appointment, manager Lucy, walked up to our table, and literally asked us to wind up, as the table was booked only for 45 minutes. And gave us the check, without us asking for it. When my friend suggested that, we'd like to give a feedback about the service charge because there was no one to check on our drinks and food, she said, "go ahead and complain if you want to" . And we were not even complaining at that point, just pointed out that no one passed by our table to get us drinks, even though we saw many waiters sitting around chatting, including the manager herself.
When we asked for boxes to pack our food, because she kicked us out even before some of us finished half our food, she gave us an annoying look and commented "do you all want to take that 1 piece of food too". This behaviour we found very rude. We were not even complaining at that point.
When we went to pay, enquired who the manager was, to the person at the counter, and she immediately barged in from nowhere and interrupted us asking "what's your problem? I don't want you to pay for the service if you're so unhappy about it, just pay your bill and go. You're so DISGUSTING"
I can't believe we as customers were treated like we were eating there for free. And got shouted "you're disgusting" by the manager Lucy, in front of the entire restaurant. This day was one horrific and horrible experience ever in our lives. We were humiliated and disrespected.
I don't understand what the fuss was all about if the restaurant was basically empty, why were we rushed out of there. Why was no one getting us drinks menu. And not one person was empathetic, no sorrys, no apologies were given.

Read moreWe arrived without booking about 5.30pm to a half full restaurant and a sign saying telling us there was no takeout and bookings only. Confirmed that we couldn’t get seated with the staff at the front and loaded the website in an attempt to book. The website had no slots so I rang and was able to book a table for 4 for about 10mins later - A little unsure what to make of this!
The restaurant was reasonably busy and it felt like their may have been staffing issues. The service we received was excellent but there was clearly a resource issue and the waiter struggled to get to us for 20+ minutes at a time.
As with many pizza express’, the kitchen was on display and didn’t appear to have any problems keeping up with demand. It was fairly noticeable how many dishes were left waiting for staff to take to tables, especially so when it’s yours! They rang their little bell almost constantly as food sat there getting cold.
The temperature of the food wasn’t as good as it could have been but we were very happy with the taste. The waiter was incredibly apologetic and fantastic when he could get round to us - these two things absolutely saved the...
