Midbay Cafe — Restaurant in St. Brelade

What a great little place this is, right on sea front. We stayed at the Golden Sands hotel but our booking didn't include breakfast, we paid for breakfast at the hotel the first day, not great for £16.99. Popped into Midbay for a sandwich at lunch and they have a great menu, and priced so reasonably. So, we then ate breakfast there each day, and lunch sometimes. Full english including tea/coffee and toast for a tenner, bargain, and a proper breakfast, nothing fancy but lots of food and perfectly cooked. Staff are so friendly, we asked about bus times into St Helier, one of them actually walked over the road to the bus stop to look at the timetable, lovely touch. When we stayed at The Merton Hotel on a previous visit we enjoyed a snack at this excellent cafe so now we are staying at St Brelades Bay Hotel for shorter stay B&B basis we will dine at this really good 5* cafe every day for lunch . The Owner & staff are excellent pleasant & there is a good atmosphere . The premises & toilets are scrupulously clean . As an ex fully trained chef for many years I really appreciate everything about this superb dining experience. Service was quick. Lovely views from the cafe however if you had a disability and using any aids you'd find it difficult to get about. Tables are crammed in with chairs touching the backs of other customers. Staff are polite. Food is below par. Our jacket potato was dark yellow and hard in places where either they had been re warmed or left a long time in the oven to keep warm. Burgers were of cheap quality meat, more like a Birds Eye or supermarket own brand. The salad was fresh but again it was a bit of iceberg lettuce and cucumber.
