We booked a short 5 day vacation to Jersey and made the decision to stay at the Biarritz Hotel due to its spectacular views of St Brelades Bay and direct access to the beach down a fairly steep set of stairs but easily navigated if you are able bodied. You can also access the bay down the road at the front of the hotel.||We booked a balcony sea view room but it is worth mentioning that due to the location of these rooms, the view from the room is not a sea view but of the houses and treetops of St Brelades Bay but there is a beautiful view of the sea and the entire bay from the balcony. The Premium sea view rooms have a panoramic view of the bay.||We would like to thank Ralph for all of his assistance during our stay, he really was incredibly helpful and made our stay a memorable one as did the rest of the staff who are kind and friendly.||The terrace is a lovely place to have a drink, afternoon tea, lunch or dinner and the hotel are right stating they have the best view in the bay.||The fact they shut the bar and terrace at 11.00 add to the peaceful ambience as during the night, all you can hear is the sea if you sleep with your windows open.||There is a bus stop outside of the hotel so you don't have to rent a car but if you do there is plenty of parking.||I'd definitely recommend the hotel if you are seeking a quiet and peaceful stay with access to St Brelades Bay and the cafes and restaurants on the beach front. ||We will definitely return.||Tips for the Hotel||I would consider putting a false wall at the back of the restaurant so guests going to the terrace, rooms at the font of the hotel or to the beach don't have to walk past diners in the restaurant, it could be glass to keep the light and airy feel in the hotel.||I would provide the guests with access, for a nominal fee, to light portable beach chairs so they can take then down to the beach. We ended up going further down the bay to rent sunbeds at £6.00 each but would've stayed in the lovely quiet area of the bay immediately below the hotel if we had access to chairs.||On the beach front, there is a box full of kids beach toys that can be borrowed and used for the day, free of charge. I would replicate this offering at the foot of the hotel's beach access.||Some smokers congregated outside our room for a couple of evenings and I would try to discourage this and have a designated smoking area, well away from any guest...
Read moreI'll start with the positives: The location of the hotel is great - a very short walk to the beach and from there a short stroll to some restaurants and bars. Staff were very polite, friendly and accommodating. The outside terrace was beautiful with a wonderful view. Breakfast was nice.
Unfortunately the hotel itself was a real letdown for us and we felt it was hugely overpriced. The property is extremely dated. We paid extra to book a (seemingly) nicer room with a balcony and were really disappointed, even thinking we got given the wrong room. The balcony was so tiny you couldn't stand on it as the two chairs and small table took up all the space. And the sea view wasn't quite as direct as we'd hoped. On top of that, the balcony door didn't shut, so we had street noise in our room. The facilities in the room were from decades ago. "Flat screen TV" as mentioned in the listing was smaller than a standard monitor, "coffee making facilities" I assume refer to the sachets of instant coffee and the cheap plastic kettle. Bathroom was really dated, single ply TP, soap coming out of squeezy container secured to the wall. Old, scratchy towels. The decor was dated throughout and the food/lounge area had a bit of an "old carpet" smell. No bar really to speak of - a little fridge that staff could open and pour a glass of wine. So, overall, atmosphere felt a bit like a retirement home, I have to say. We ended up going to other nearby hotels for dinners and drinks to avoid spending time in ours. I think pictures on the website make it look much nicer than it actually is. It's a shame, as the location and potential are fantastic but it's definitely not worth the price for the current...
Read moreUnfortunately, this was the worst 4* hotel I have stayed in.
Confused about my booking on arrival, regularly noone on the front desk (I needed to find someone in the restaurant to ask for an iron), I had to lean on bedroom door to close it as it was too tight on carpet, seemed to be a store room or similar below as door was slammed every minute or so. My toilet was difficult to flush but flush completely stopped working last day. Overpriced for hotel.
Regarding food. Ate there on the Fri. Food ok, but my meal was given and didnt see anyone again. No bowl or extra napkin bought out for mussel shells.
Then, on Sunday, I had a Sunday lunch where the beef was either bleeding or overcooked and chewy. The potatoes were rock hard. Very little gravy. The veg was some cabbage, 2 cherry tomatoes (still on vine) and a single slice of carrot. I have never sent a meal back before, but did with this as it was terrible. The chef walked out with the dish and started shouting at me saying he didnt see the issue and breaking up the potatoes and beef in front of me. The staff kept apologising and looked mortified. Terrible food and disgusting attitute from a terrible chef. Will try to post pics of meal...
