If you ever find yourself wandering through the breathtaking landscapes of Petra, Jordan, do yourself a favor and visit Abu Eliasâa restaurant thatâs more than just a place to eat. Itâs an experience, a warm embrace, and a reminder that great food and even greater hospitality can make you feel at home, no matter how far youâve traveled.
The true heart of this place? Mr. Ahmed. From the moment I stepped inside, he made me feel like a long-lost friend rather than just another hungry traveler. With a beaming smile and a genuine passion for good food, he guided me through the menu, making sure I found the perfect mealâeven as someone who doesnât eat meat. I had worried that my options might be limited, but I couldnât have been more wrong.
At his recommendation, I ordered a fresh, vibrant salad and mfaraket batataâa dish that completely redefined my love for potatoes. I donât know what kind of magic they work in that kitchen, but I can confidently say Iâve never had a better version of this humble ingredient. Every bite was a perfect balance of flavorsâsimple, yet absolutely unforgettable.
Abu Elias isnât just a restaurant; itâs the kind of place that stays with you. The warmth, the food, the peopleâI know Iâll be back. If youâre in Petra, donât miss it. And if youâre lucky, Mr. Ahmed will be there to make sure your meal is just as...
Read moreWe stopped by this restaurant after visiting Petra, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our day, so worth it. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and super patient while we took our time picking out what to order. The atmosphere felt really warm and relaxed, like we were being hosted by friends. One of the chefs even invited us to try kneading the dough, which was such a fun experience. Our food came out in about 15 minutes â fresh, hot, and smelling amazing. We ordered the mansaf, lamb chops, camel meat kebab, and meat sajiye, and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were authentic, the portions were generous, and you could really taste the care put into every dish. I would definitely recommend stopping here if youâre anywhere near Petra â itâs the perfect spot to enjoy a hearty, traditional meal after a long day...
Read moreOne of the good restaurants in the Petra downtown area. They have a decent menu of soups, salads, starters, main courses, drinks, and desserts.
The restaurant is well-designed, and they show pride in a visit made by the Jordanian Queen Rania. Their staff are very friendly, and service is excellent.
When I dined here, we ordered 4 dishes. 2 dishes were lamb dishes, and the lamb was not tasty and quite fatty (issue with the lamb meat itself). The other 2 dishes were very good.
I would still dine here in the future, and I hope they take my above comment into consideration. I look forward to writing a higher review next time.
They do accept payment by cash or card. There is ample street parking. They are reasonably priced, and food portions...
