Ocean Basket Mega Silkway — Restaurant in Astana

This was a much unexpected experience to say the least... As a pescatarian in the middle of the steppes, I had high hopes for Ocean Basket, so high in fact that I could not even go there for weeks, putting it aside for a special occasion. Ultimately decided to try them out with a friend, and a combination of terrible service mixed with my less than ideal choice meant that the lunch had very little to praise. First of all, despite clearly asking for a Fried Seafood Platter, they brought a fish and chips dish to my table. After telling them that it was not my order, I waited for yet another 20 minutes or so to receive my actual, most of which and especially the fries were already cold. Calamari and shrimps were okay, fish and mussels certainly did not taste like much. Everything was fried which was just as I wanted, but I had much lighter fried seafood before and that was not it. Sauces they paired were both creamy and fatty, which did not complement the fried food well at all. After almost an hour of struggle trying to get the right food and then eat it cold, I wanted to pay which took me another 25 minutes in a mostly empty restaurant. I asked for the bill four times for them to finally bring it to me.

It is just sad really, there is nothing wrong with their kitchen per se, it is the way things are handled. If the order was noted well, brought hot, and the bill arrived fast, all of this would have taken 30 minutes, food would have tasted better and less fatty, and the points would all be in the five star range. I still have high hopes for other items on the menu, and will update this review if I can justify...

The salmon plate was surprisingly delicious considering how far the ingredients had travelled to this part of the world. The seafood combo was a slight disappointment though. Малышей порадуют бумажные скатерти, на которых можно разукрасить рыбок, и карандаши не нужно брать с собой - они есть в ресторане. Для гурманов морепродуктов найдутся рыба, креветки, мидии и другие прелести. Также есть десерты, коктейли и чаи. Зачастую в ресторанах приходится ждать, пока приготовят основные блюда. Здесь же все готовится быстро, и пока вы ожидаете вам приносят хлебцы с маслом и соусами - что особенно радует если вы сильно голодны. В выходные дни, когда жители столицы и гости проводят досуг в Мега Силквее, свободных столиков может не оказаться, в этом случае заблаговременно лучше зарезервировать столик и насладиться вкусной кухней и доброжелательным...
