Le Pearl Hotel — Restaurant in City of Kisumu

No trip to Kisumu could be complete without trying some tilapia freshly caught from Lake Victoria, and so I decided to check this place out after reading the positive reviews here. It didn't disappoint. There's no menu, you're just asked if you want a medium or large fish and whether you want it wet or dry.

I went for the medium tilapia wet fry with chips (I'm not a huge fan of ugali - cornmeal - yet). It was really good, and nothing beats eating it while overlooking the lake. I'm not an expert at eating fish with bones and so I was a bit wasteful but it's not as hard as it looks, fortunately. The staff are very friendly and understanding too. The price came to about 1200 KES including a coke, which didn't seem too bad for the whole experience. I'd definitely come back. Authentic experience where you enjoy a fresh fish feast straight from the lake. Its is a waterfront restaurant having a terrace propped over the lake. It offers an undistracted 180 degree view of the lake where you can watch local fishermen going about their activities in the distance. This restaurant is located in Dunga by the lake. You can take boda(motorbike) taxi from town for 70 Ksh or 100ksh. Most people come here for the large whole Tilapia fish. It has a great ambience with the lake breeze blowing in as you have your meal. There is plenty of seating. I recommend seating upstairs in the outdoor areas. Their waiters are generally nice and there is always someone outside checking up on the vehicles incase you come with your own vehicle. I wouldnt say I love their fish.
