What a really wonderful place. The two ladies working here were so kind to us and made our short time in Mombasa so memorable. We saw a bao board and have been so curious to learn the game because the boards have been in many shops in Kenya. The woman working here taught us and played with my husband - it was so cool!
Anwyay, in addition to learning bao we enjoyed some delicious Swahili coffee and Kenyan chai. Both were perfectly spiced. And for some snacks we enjoyed the bhajia and the mahamri. Even though they were fried they were light and not oily. They were very delicious.
The place is also beautifully decorated. We also spoke with the other lady (I'm so sorry that I have forgotten their names!!!) and learned that she was learning German. It was really fun to speak with her!
Thank you for a wonderful time! We would definitely recommend this place...

We ordered some masala Tea, Swahili Iced Tea and Bhujia (called Pakoray back home), which was served with some spicy green chatni. The prices are extremely reasonable and there was just one staff person, who was doing the job well. The food and drinks were pretty satisfactory without a hole in...
Read moreVery good vibe. Feels like a space where locals and tourists alike frequent. Meals are affordable. Had the coffees and the snacks. The coffee was good. A little weaker than coffee you will find in other places, but still very good. The snacks were delicious. The most impressive thing about the coffee house though isn't the food. It is the library, safe space and the computer center above it. Here, the local youth are given space to meet, taught computer skills and allowed to interact in a safe space with peers and mentors. The profits from the coffee house allow the library and computer centre...
