… Lunch at The Oak Mombasa 🍽️✨ …
Two sisters are slowly offering a lovely meeting space that is bright, chic and cozy. Today we had the shock of pleasure, coming out of the Mombasa lunch time heat; next door Friday mosque prayers and the humidity into this airy den. A family of regulars has found a refuge that is offering more than food!
A third space! A space for conversation over good food and beverages. And playfulness!
We find our corner spot unbothered. There is a Indian family beside us and infront of us a group of men who walked in from the mosque next door.

Read moreWe arrived at the café at 10:30 PM on a holiday, and before entering, one of us went in to confirm if they were still open. The staff assured us they were, so we decided to go in. However, from the moment we walked in, the experience was disappointing. The waitress, instead of helping us settle down, just stood there staring, making us feel unwelcome, as though we were inconveniencing them by being there.
As we settled in, she informed us that the kitchen was closed and only coffee and desserts were available. Although disappointed, we agreed to proceed with that limited menu. But after placing our order, she returned to inform us that coffee wasn’t available either, and only desserts could be served. At this point, it became clear there was a complete lack of communication between the waitstaff, the kitchen, and the management.
What made matters worse was the absolute lack of courtesy. Neither the waitress nor the manager bothered to apologize for the inconvenience or the miscommunication. Instead, they seemed indifferent to the fact that we walked out feeling frustrated and as though our time had been wasted.
This kind of inhospitable service is unacceptable and left us deeply disappointed. If we ever consider going there again, we’d think twice before...
Read moreAbsolutely horrendous experience. The Oak Restaurant was a complete disaster from start to finish. The waitress was beyond rude condescending and dismissive like she was doing us a favor by showing up at the table. When we brought up that our food was completely uncooked, the manager had the audacity to defend it by implying his “family” was in the kitchen and they “don’t make mistakes.” Are you serious? Let’s talk about the Ferrero frappe—a complete joke. There was absolutely nothing about it that tasted like Ferrero. It was watery, bland, and straight-up false advertising. If you're going to name something after a luxury chocolate, make sure it doesn't taste like melted ice with brown coloring. After waiting over an hour, the food finally came out and it was still raw. How do you mess that up with a kitchen that supposedly "makes no mistakes"? Disgraceful. This place is all hype and no substance. Overpriced, overrated, and straight-up disrespectful. Save your time, money, and patience go literally...
