Hands down one of the best sushi I've had in Nairobi! Fresh, filling and they actually give you good wasabi! I also enjoyed their other Japanese meals they had. The Chicken Namban was a favourite, served with an amazing sesame sauce. The tonkastu was also amazing, the sauce was sweet and really paired well with the breaded pork cutlet. I will definitely be back to try their other menu items. If you love Asian and specifically Japanese food, you should come here!

The Japanese restaurant is embedded within a coffee shop which got me a bit confused but figured it out eventually. Had lovely sushi in the outdoor seating area and a great special latte. Service exemplary - had a chat with one of the managers who’s part Japanese. Great guy. Parking in this building is hit n miss. Will be back.

The mission with locals as service & kitchen staff sounds promising at the scene of a Japanese Sushi restaurant. They're the only ones who could make whatever's about to happen worthwhile in Nairobi. The least I can do is to encourage locals to pay attention with Japanese cuisine which is very new to them.

visited KAI with high expectations, given its reputation for quality coffee. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by the staff’s discourteous behavior.

Upon entering, I was not greeted warmly and felt a noticeable lack of customer service. When I chose to sit at a table to consider my order, I was abruptly told by a staff member that I would need to either place an order or leave. This request, while understandable to some degree, was conveyed in a dismissive and unprofessional manner, which left me feeling unwelcome.

While the atmosphere was pleasant, the interaction with the staff significantly overshadowed the overall experience. Customer service is a key element of any hospitality-focused business, and it’s disappointing when it’s not upheld.

As for the coffee, I did not end up ordering due to the negative experience, so I can’t comment on the quality. However, given the attitude I encountered, I am hesitant to return or recommend this...

I finally visited Kai the Sushi Bar for a dine-in experience after many delivery orders—and I’m so glad I did! The ambiance on the terrace was calm and welcoming, and the service was top-notch from start to finish.

Huge shoutout to Chef Elias who personally stopped by to check in on how everything was going. That level of care and hospitality truly made the experience special. The food was exceptional, and the team's attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. Keep up the amazing work—I'm super happy and will...
