An amazing place to relax. This is my second stay at this resort. The first time I was there with my ex, which kinda ruined that trip. This time I was with the person that cared about me and I cared about her. So the second time was the charm for me. Let me share our pros and cons about this place: PROs: - Really nice service. The staff goes an extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. - They have an amazing selection of drinks at their two bars. Also their food (aside from breakfast - see the cons) was very nice. They had a nice selection in their menu so you won't run out of options during your stay. - They have an ice-cream shop that serves amazing ice-cream and sherbets on the premises. That was a great addition to our stay during a 30C weather. - They have a very clean pool with nice lounges nearby. All in nicely shaded area, where you can order a cocktail or a snack right by the pool. - The ocean was amazingly clean. It didn't have a lot of sea weed, or garbage. And the sand was soft and pleasant for a walk or a morning/evening run/stroll. On top of that there weren't many beach boys to annoy you. There were some, but not that many. - They have an iPhone/Android app that has all the options needed for guests: from checking your balance, to giving you times when the food is served, to showing you the list of amenities, to giving you an ocean tide map. Very professional. I have never seen any other resort that had their own app. - We had a couple of massages at their spa. It was very relaxing and we liked it a lot. - They have a very nice gym on the premises. So you can work out if you want to stay in shape. They also have a yoga studio, if that's your thing. - They offer all kinds of extras: from scuba diving lessons to fishing, etc. There were some small cons as well. CONS: - The (free) breakfast that is included with every booking had a very limited menu. Plus it was an a-la-cart, and not a buffet, which made it quite small. You order once, and then will most certainly need more food at about lunch time. Also the service during breakfast wasn't the greatest. - They don't have a Jacuzzi or sauna at their spa. (They have a Jacuzzi in their master suites, if you want to pay extra.)

Overpriced and badly managed. Infrastructure was once good but is now declining. Service is really bad since they changed management. The manager avoids to speak with guests by requesting his employees to lie (telling he is absent even everyone knows it is not true) and speaks about policy and rules instead of looking for solutions. Just want to take money out of your pockets but not to take attention. Broken jacuzzi. Showers with no pressure. Partial wifi. Room 29 for 2 people has to use beachbed 12 for 1 people only but nobody will inform you that tou can use 12 while looking for 29.... Checkout time is 10am not negociable "this is international policy and additional time has to be charged" said the rude hotel manager when we were requesting for 11am on Sunday. Ok, we were ready to pay, but nobody could arrange a solution. As we wanted to leave in the early afternoon I paid for a full additionnal night booked by internet. But even paying 2 nights and using 1 only is not enough for this picsou manager, I got no consideration no service: he wants to be Mr Right and the customer has therefore to be the bad, whatever he does.... Happy to leave. Please avoid the Sands at Nomad, there are many better managed hotels in the zone, cheaper and ready to care for you.

A perfect week on the beach! Although the drive and the ferry from Mombasa can be an interesting and colorful experience we flew into Ukunda airstrip. From there it is only a 5 minute drive to arrive in the unique boutique hotel. Once there the happy and friendly staff welcome you and walk you to your villa - watch out you might see a monkey on the way! The rooms are spacious, beautifully furnished and have the most beautiful view past the tallest palm trees over the about 40 metre wide white sandy beach and the Indian Ocean beyond - I could look at this view all day. I love the little details in the room like the Kikoi bath robes and scented body wash & shampoo. Plenty of activities are on offer from dive trips with the operator Diving the Crab to one of their many dive sites to excursions to Chale Island and the friendly staff will help you to arrange it. The food is exquisite I could recommend the seared tuna but the smoked sail fish and the octopus salad are just as good and the best medicine is a drink called the Nomad Dawa ! And don't forget the restaurant is on the beach - nothing beats this location. A big thank you to the whole team at The Sands at Nomad - you made our stay really special! We will be back!!

An amazing place to relax.

This is my second stay at this resort. The first time I was there with my ex, which kinda ruined that trip. This time I was with the person that cared about me and I cared about her. So the second time was the charm for me. Let me share our pros and cons about this place:

Really nice service. The staff goes an extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

A perfect piece of paradise... ! The Sands and Nomad is by far one of the best organised and managed top rated hotels that we have ever stayed in the world and certainly thee exclamation mark hotel on the entire Kenyan coast!. The hotel is the most refined and swahili cultured place to be for those brilliantly looking purely to relax and appreciate excellence all around... and that we did! Our rooms were perfectly set and speciously cozy to give us the best views, sleep, and super clean! All the staff performed stunningly – hard to do given that everyone was great, though, a special thanks goes to Simon, Bakara, and Hussein who went above and beyond expectations every time!. To Simon, keep skydiving – you’ll get ur dream certifications soon enough. The beach was the safest, softest, cleanest, purest white sand, and absolutely amazing just before sunrise and sun set.. Not to mention the nesting sea turtles hatching right next to our room! The beach is in a naturally enclosed cove which gives it exclusivity to the guest mainly. The milky way galaxy map of stars are the highest concentration and best visible just before the most incredible sun rises over the ocean horizon being so close to the equator. Perfectly placed beach towels everywhere was very smart indeed. The ocean waters are warm and the waves are low given the distant reefs break the waves and the gradient is low – we could swim for hours. The balmy winds made the day and evening temps perfect and did not see any mosquitoes! The food (overseen by a Swiss Chef) is simply some of the best culinary dishes ever experienced in all my worldly travels.. Everything on the menu is delicious to a fault, fresh, and generous! And, they will customize anything you have a preference for.. nowhere else would you get a 14.5 inch long Langoustine cooked to perfection every day or red tuna tartar that is beyond description or spicy Swahili fish soup that is so authentic! The fresh passion fruit juice – is priceless. Management – Richard and Trui are simply the best ever!!!! Management brought out nothing but excellence in every aspect. Keep it up! See you soon...
