A Cozy Ambiance with Room for Improvement
My recent visit to Sabka Restaurant in Salmiya offered a delightful atmosphere. The restaurant boasts a cozy vibe, enhanced by the unique laterite red epoxy paint on the walls and a charming tea stall tucked inside. The glass jars overflowing with pickled gooseberries, cucumbers, pineapples, and other treats further accentuated the authentic Kerala street food experience.
While the ambiance excelled, the food itself was satisfactory. I've had more flavorful meals and biryanis elsewhere.
Here are some areas where Sabka Restaurant could elevate their service:
Table Size: The tables seem too small to comfortably accommodate four people enjoying a traditional Kerala meal served on banana leaves. Service Efficiency: Despite the seemingly sufficient number of staff, service was slow. Improved training and better organization delegating tasks within the team could significantly enhance the dining experience. Prioritizing Dine-In Customers: While take-away orders are understandable, attentive care should still be given to dine-in customers. Accessibility Considerations:
It's important to note that the restaurant currently lacks wheelchair accessibility and doesn't offer high chairs for families with young children.
Overall:
Sabka Restaurant has the potential to be a fantastic spot, but some improvements could make a big difference. Addressing the mentioned points could solidify their position as a truly delightful dining...
Read moreThis was my third visit after having two good experiences earlier, but unfortunately, this time the food didn't meet expectations.
We tried the chicken and beef dum biryani, along with the Kerala thali meals. The beef wasn’t cooked properly, and even the biryani rice lacked flavor — definitely not the quality we experienced before.
However, the Kerala thali meals were excellent. It came with 4 side dishes, including avial and kichadi, both of which were flavorful and authentic. What impressed us is that they’re not hesitant to serve extras when requested, which adds to the homely feel.
Apart from the complimentary fish fry, they offer additional options you can order separately. We had the Watta fish fry, served with flavorful masala — it reminded us of the taste from Amma Mess in Calicut. The price for the fish fry was also very reasonable.
The place is clean, hygienic, and the staff is friendly and attentive. It's quite pocket-friendly, though it does get cozy and crowded during peak times, with no separate family sections.
Final verdict: While the biryani was disappointing this time, the thali meals and fish fry are a must-try. Hope the biryani quality improves to match their...
Read moreFirst of all really greatful to Mr yunis the owner of Sabka Resturant and the staff for an fabulous hospitality who contributed their effort and amazing hard work to host Onam Sadhya festive.
For Malayalis (people from Kerala) living away from home, the Onam sadhya carries nostalgia. The aroma of avial, the crunch of pappadam, the sweetness of payasam—it’s like being transported back to childhood and family gatherings. And Sabka management to deliver the best taste it could be.
Each dish represents the bounty of the harvest. A banana leaf overflowing with flavors is a reminder of gratitude for nature’s blessings and the joy of prosperity.
Sabka management and staff made sure that everyone gets the best of the taste and emotional ambience being home, cause Preparing a sadhya is a labor of love. Families wake up early, cook together, and put care into balancing flavors. Serving it to guests is seen as a way of showing respect and affection.
Weldon Mr Yunis you’ve succeeded to deliver such...
