At the very outset, let me tell you that if you are looking for a review of the food, you are reading the wrong review. That is because I never got to the point of sampling their food. Let me start from the beginning - Being a foodie, it was my misfortune that I decided to go to Thakkara restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. After loitering around for a parking space for 10 minutes, I finally found a spot a bit far away and walked over to the restaurant accompanied by my wife and daughter. Once we reached, we waited for about 20 minutes to be seated. After being seated, it took almost 10 minutes for the staff to come and clean and reset the table. After that we waited another 5 minutes to have the waiter come over to our table to take our order.
When we asked to see the menu, we were informed that there is only Biryani and a couple of other things available. Which kind of biryani, I asked? I wanted to see at least a description of what I was about to eat. The waiter did not seem to be interested to furnish me even with a menu pamphlet. Visibly frustrated and upset, I got up and asked my family to leave with me.
I don't care if they are serving Manna from heaven, I am a paying customer and expected to be treated with some decency. The staff seems to be desperately lacking in...
Read moreI recently dined at Thakkara Restaurant in Salmiya and had the pleasure of trying their Chicken Noodles. Let me just say, it was an absolute delight!
From the moment I entered the restaurant, the inviting atmosphere and friendly staff set a positive tone. The menu featured a variety of dishes, but I was drawn to the Chicken Noodles based on the glowing reviews and recommendations.
When the dish arrived, I was immediately struck by the vibrant presentation and generous portion size. The noodles were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of chewiness, and they were generously tossed with tender chunks of chicken. The vegetables added a delightful crunch and color, enhancing both the visual and taste experience.
What stood out most was the flavorful sauce. It had just the right balance of savory and slightly spicy notes, providing a satisfying depth to the dish without overwhelming the palate. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that left me craving more.
Overall, my experience at Thakkara Restaurant was fantastic. The Chicken Noodles were a highlight of my meal, and I can’t wait to return to try more dishes from their extensive menu. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying...
Read moreThakkara in Salmiya is a hidden gem for anyone who enjoys authentic Kerala cuisine. The restaurant specializes in traditional South Indian flavors, and every dish feels homely and rich in taste. Their fish curry, appam, and Kerala parotta are some of the highlights, bringing out the unique blend of coconut, spices, and herbs that Kerala food is known for. The seafood options, in particular, are fresh and cooked to perfection.
The ambience is simple and functional, but the food more than makes up for it. Prices are reasonable, making it a popular choice for families and groups looking for genuine Kerala flavors without spending too much. Service is generally good, though it can be a little slow when the place is busy.
Overall, Thakkara is one of the best spots in Salmiya to experience authentic Kerala food — flavorful, comforting, and true...
