Cafe Dastorkon (Дасторкон) in Karakol is an absolute gem, offering a delightful culinary and cultural experience. The food was a true highlight, with a diverse menu of delectable dishes that satisfied our taste buds. The combination of traditional flavors and innovative twists made each bite a delightful surprise. During the summer, the live traditional music added an enchanting ambiance to our dining experience. It was a true feast for the senses, immersing us in the rich cultural heritage of the region. The interior decoration of the cafe was equally fascinating. The attention to detail and the blend of traditional and modern elements created a unique and inviting atmosphere. It felt like stepping into a piece of Karakol's history. However, one drawback was the use of Turkish toilets, which might not be to everyone's preference. While it didn't significantly affect our overall experience, it's worth considering for those who may have specific restroom preferences. In conclusion, Cafe Dastorkon is a must-visit in Karakol. With its delicious food, enchanting live music, and captivating interior, it promises an unforgettable journey into Kyrgyz culture. While the Turkish toilets might be a slight inconvenience for some, the overall experience more than makes up for it. Don't miss the chance to indulge in the flavors and culture at Cafe Dastorkon. Highly recommended!

Review 2: Returned late October....and it was bad. won't return ever again. 1x Mojito = a glass of flourescent teal Sprite/7-Up - disgusting. 1x Cuba Libre = rancid. Lamb Kuurdak = 1 plate of boney lamb cuts (had the same dish at Tagatay hotel, Zhashoo K. & other restaurants and it was delicious at all others...but here = not so good on this occasion. Price = double all other restaurants at half the standard. Review 1: Very good indeed. One of the best restaurants (In terms of food) in Karakol. Cheesecake was exquisite as was the Kyrgyzstan sweet red wine (450som per bottle). The Horse meat & noodles was a novelty taste for me, however, it was surprisingly tasty. The prices were reasonable. The toilets were absolutely revolting though, and frankly it is a big mistake to not improve such essential facilities. I was close to knocking a star off based on this alone. That said, the staff and food were very good, so I would very much recommend this establishment.

Very authentic restaurant with local cuisine. Original Kyrgyz design inside. The place is rather big, consists of two dining rooms. It’s a popular place for whole families and gatherings. It’s better to reserve in advance as they tend to be fully booked. As in most Kyrgyz places it is expected that you order directly when seated at the table so be prepared to choose fast. In Kyrgyz standards this place is considered pricy but for a foreigner it’s really affordable, you may however opt to skip it if you are on a really tight budget. I DON’T recommend pizza thou, choose from local dishes. They serve horse meet if you are interested.

I don’t understand the good reviews here. The waiter was friendly, but not seen much, so that we had to look for him all the time by running around in the restaurant. To make an order, to pay, … The starter tasted really good (warm bread), but the main dish (fish) was full of fishbones and the Aubergine tasted disgusting. We told them but they didn’t really care. Cheesecake was good again, the tiramisu not really - only fat. Atmosphere is not cozy at all, stressing music, running stressed waiters, loud kitchen machines… Didn’t like the stay. Won’t come back. Sorry but not sorry.

Yes, it's geared towards tourists, and that's part of what makes it great. Clear English menu descriptions. Food is various and mostly very good. We liked the local selections more than the intl stuff like pizza. My only complaint is that there are no spicy options. On my 2nd visit, I brought my own chili paste from a supermarket. The cocktails are good and strong. I see some people complain about the 15% service charge, but I can assure you that the high level of service justifies it.

Experience was disappointing. They had almost nothing available on the menu while ordering and to top things off, after everyone else had been served their meals I was told that they didn’t have my meal available with no explanation as to why they hadn’t told me that when we were ordering. The place was clean and the food that did come was pretty good, but nowhere near as good as the Alma Ethno Cafe.
