Cafe Dastorkon (Дасторкон) in Karakol is an absolute gem, offering a delightful culinary and cultural experience. The food was a true highlight, with a diverse menu of delectable dishes that satisfied our taste buds. The combination of traditional flavors and innovative twists made each bite a delightful surprise.

During the summer, the live traditional music added an enchanting ambiance to our dining experience. It was a true feast for the senses, immersing us in the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The interior decoration of the cafe was equally fascinating. The attention to detail and the blend of traditional and modern elements created a unique and inviting atmosphere. It felt like stepping into a piece of Karakol's history.

However, one drawback was the use of Turkish toilets, which might not be to everyone's preference. While it didn't significantly affect our overall experience, it's worth considering for those who may have specific restroom preferences.

In conclusion, Cafe Dastorkon is a must-visit in Karakol. With its delicious food, enchanting live music, and captivating interior, it promises an unforgettable journey into Kyrgyz culture. While the Turkish toilets might be a slight inconvenience for some, the overall experience more than makes up for it. Don't miss the chance to indulge in the flavors and culture at Cafe Dastorkon. Highly...

Ordered food, waiter came back and told us one of the dishes was unavailable and in fact nearly all of the meats weren’t available then left us to look at the menu again. We decided we didn’t want to eat there any more and tried to pay for the drinks and leave but he said he had already put the rest of the order through so we had to pay the full bill. This was literally 30 seconds after he had told us some of the dishes weren’t available. Absolutely furious. He asked another member of staff who said the same. We really tried to reason with them but they were not budging at all. There was broken glass all over the floor. We were sat in the “back room” which was very cramped and noisy. When the food arrived it was not great either. If I was at home I would have refused to pay and walked out but we felt we were being forced to. This place is popular because of the “live music” at the front of the restaurant but honestly only the first 4 tables would be able to see or hear it and the vast majority of tables are further along the side or at the back of the building. The food is already overpriced and average standard, let alone all the other issues. It has a huge menu which they clearly cannot cope with if barely any of it was in stock. Don’t touch this place. Waste of...

We had a truly memorable dining experience at Dastorkon, a restaurant known for its authentic Kyrgyz ambiance and traditional cuisine. We ordered several of their ethno-dishes, starting with the beef Kyrgyz soup, which came in a hearty broth filled with tender chunks of beef, root vegetables, and fragrant herbs — comforting and full of flavor. The beshbarmak, a national dish made with hand-rolled noodles and slow-cooked meat (usually lamb or beef), was rich and savory, beautifully seasoned, and served with a light onion broth that brought everything together. We also tried the lamb steak with onions, which was perfectly grilled — juicy, tender, and topped with sweet, caramelized onions that balanced the meat’s bold flavor. The atmosphere was just as impressive as the food. The interior is designed to reflect a traditional Kyrgyz home, with colorful textiles, wooden carvings, low tables, and cozy seating that transports you right into Central Asia. Soft folk music played in the background, enhancing the immersive cultural experience. The service was warm and attentive, with staff happy to explain the dishes and share stories about their heritage. Dastorkon is a perfect spot if you're looking for a culinary journey that’s both authentic and soul-satisfying. Highly recommended!
