Stumbling upon the Laodi Bar while making my way down the less-popular end of the Mekong, I found this to be one of the best bars in Vientiane on all fronts. Fashioned in old sheet metal with a chic-industrial look upon the decaying fascade of a former hotel, inclusive of graffiti, this bar is owned by Laodi Agricole, a Japanese-Lao rum distillery in the Vientiane provinces. Say what you will of gentrification, the friendly, knowledgeable staff - including a wonderful Japanese bar manager - quality products, and fantastic view at sunset make this a guaranteed winner. Food was a bit disappointing but I cannot really expect much from a bar. The sauce of the chicken wings was good but there were only 5 small pieces 😒 Their padthai was good but serving was really small.
